Disneyland Crowds January 2-5?
Hi All, I am planning a Disneyland trip January 2-5. I did not pick the dates, I am a huge Disney fan, but would NEVER choose to go on those particular dates because I feel like it will be extremely crowded. Can anyone tell me their experience with these dates? I have been looking on the internet and have found mixed feedback. I'm really nervous that I will be in 2-3 hour lines and sorry that I went.

From my experience, it's not bad. Most people go the last two weeks of the year. New Years Day is the busiest all year. After that it's not bad. Both the So Cal Select and So Cal annual passes are still blocked out so it's busy, but not like summer or the last two weeks of the year.

I am probably going to give you a much more realistic outlook.than others.
It will be crowded, but not as crowded as the week before. The Holiday Season is going on through January 6th, so you will still get to see all of the Christmas Decorations and activities. But as a result..so will everyone else. Most schools do not go back until January 7th so you will still have a lot of vacationers. During this week they will be on their full "holiday" hours schedule. It was mentioned that 2 of the 4 Annual Passes were blocked out, and that is correct. The reason they are blocked out is because they expect higher crowds.
Now, with all of that said, are you going to have 2-3 hour lines..on most rides NO. Your average wait for most of the popular rides will probably be in the 60-90 minute range(give or take a few minutes). On other rides you are probably going to be looking at 30-60 minutes. If you are looking to get on Radiator Springs Racers, that can be a 2-3 hour wait, but not just because of the holiday. RSR has been averaging about 2 hours during the middle of the day since it opened, even on days when the crowds were lower it may only get down to about 90 minutes.
You will also have higher crowds in watching the Christmas Parade and Fireworks, but this can be avoided somewhat by viewing the 2nd parade and for the fireworks viewing them from Small World. You won't get the entire fireworks show(as there is some parts that involve the Castle), but you will get about 85% of the fireworks. Also, do not plan to leave the park right after the Fireworks or either Parade ends as it can get very crowded on Main Street as well as if you have to wait for a Shuttle and/or tram.
If you make good use of FastPass, plan to do the less popular rides during the middle of the day, and go in knowing it will be busy. There should be no reason that in the 3-4 days you will be there that you can not do everything you want to do and not feel like you are having to rush from place to place.

Actually, it is more likely than not going to be less crowded because California schools usually start the Monday after New Years. Hmm... I think it shouldn't be that crowded, but let me give you a tip. Tell the ride operator that you're a single person rider, and you'll be able to go to the front of the line while you wait for someone to have an empty spot. Or, better yet, you can have a reserved line ticket by using your entrance ticket. Yeah, you have to wait an hr for the ride, but if you it's the easiest way to ride the popular ones.

confident, there will be crowds, yet undergo in strategies, Disneyland is busy 3 hundred and sixty 5 days around. besides the indisputable fact that it has thousands of rides so strains are not too undesirable. The ingredients exceedingly good, yet may be high priced. flow on a weekday in case you may. Weekends are packed. It never gets too busy although and you will constantly get various issues executed on your day there. have exciting!
