  • Pregnancy and Knotts Berry Farm/Disneyland?

Hi all, I just found out this weekend I am pregnant and am taking my 7 year old niece to Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm next week. I have called two doctors, who will not see me until after January 8th because they don't want to see me until I am 8 weeks pregnant. The first doctor I spoke to said I can ride anything I want because the baby is very small and protected. The second doctor told me no large rides. When I inquired further as to why I am getting conflicting opinions about what my restrictions are, the second doctor told me they don't suggest it "just in case" I really want my niece to have a great time but don't want to jeopardize my pregnancy. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks!

  • Disneyland Crowds January 2-5?

Hi All, I am planning a Disneyland trip January 2-5. I did not pick the dates, I am a huge Disney fan, but would NEVER choose to go on those particular dates because I feel like it will be extremely crowded. Can anyone tell me their experience with these dates? I have been looking on the internet and have found mixed feedback. I'm really nervous that I will be in 2-3 hour lines and sorry that I went.

  • When to test for pregnancy?

Hi all, I'm a 26 year old married female who is not trying to have a baby, although if one happened it would be ok. Alright here is my question....I have not missed any periods, and have no tenderness of the boobs however I have been fairly nauseous for the past week or two and have had a lot of indigestion/acid reflux. I have also been feeling just kinda off, kinda dizzy or light headed. I'm on birth control so I really have no reason to think I'm pregnant aside from the overall ookieness. When or should I test? Should this even be a concern for me?

  • Dog medication and possible reaction help?

HI, my dog is a white boxer, 63lbs, 5 years old. She has allergies, cronic pancreatits and yeast problems. She is currently taking Metronidazole, ForiFlora and Famotidine. The vet gave me Fluconazole in 200mg tabs. Last time she took it she had what appeared to be a mild pancreatic episode and would not eat for days. The vet wants me to break the pill in half and try again. I'm leery about doing this...what's your take on the subject? I also have conserns about giving her this metronidazole long term...

  • Medication making my dog ill, but the vet wants her to take it again, Suggestions?

    Hi all,

My dog has lots of medical problems including allergies, pancreatitis and yeast infections on her skin, ear and feet. The yeast infections on the ear and skin have cleared up nicely with shampoos and ear medication. The infection on the feet is not clear, but getting a tiny bit better everyday. On the 14th of Jan. my vet gave me Ketoconizole for my dog's yeast problems. She took it and about 15 mins later was extremely nauseous. The next day her stomach was making all kinds of noises, hurting her and she was pacing and pacing. The vet gave her some pain pills for her stomach and she seemed a little better. It took a good 5 days for her to feel all the way better. The vet now wants me to give her 1/2 dose of the pill again..she is not convinced that the pill made her sick, but I am. What would you do? Should I give her the pill again or not? Also, what can happen if I decide the yeast pills are not for her and try to control her yeast with the topical remidies I have described above? Thanks!

  • Dog Pancreitits, need help with prevention, at my wits end.?

Please excuse my poor spelling, but I am having a horrible time with my dog and her recent diagnosis of pancretitis. She has previously had several flare ups, but by the time I took her to the vet the next day they had subsided and after I told them the symptoms they just shrugged it off as coughing due to her not vomiting. She finally had an episode in the morning instead of at night, so I took her in and she was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis. She had another flare up on Dec. 30. Her flair ups I am told are fairly mild...they generally last only 12-15 hours with no hospitalization required. She also has bad allergies and is on allergy shots. She is fed prescription food and nothing else. She had not consumed anything other than her prescription food prior to the last episode. She has been prescribed some live cultures of bacteria to eat on a regular basis (not helping) and some antibiotics and pain meds for the next 10 days (just like last time) to help her get thru this bout. What else can I do to help her? Could the allergy shots be causing this? Any suggestions of how to prevent this? It seems to happen every couple of months and I'm really freaked out about it. (She is a 5 year old boxer) I hate that this is happening to her!

  • Can Pancreatitis in dogs cause low platelets?

    Hi

my dog was diagnosed with pancreatitis, they are also concerned because her platelet count is low 60,000. Can pancreatitis cause this low platelet count? I am curious because they are wanting to run many more tests due to the low platelets. While I want to treat my dog, I can only spend so many thousands of dollars, especially if there may not be a need to do so. I am wondering if I should treat the pancreatits and then see if her platlet count rises...suggestions?

  • Took a Stray to the pound.....am I horrible?

    Hi everyone,

On Saturday night a dog ran up into my driveway when my husband and I were unloading groceries. She was a beautifull little pit bull and was so hot and thirsty (I live in AZ) so I let her come inside for the night because it was too late to do anything. I looked around the neighborhood, posted her photo on Pets911 and craigslist. I introduced her to my animals, which did not go well and decided I could not keep her. The Humane Society would not take her because she is not injured, the rescues in my area are not taking surrendered animals, only animals from shelters. I tried to give her to a friend, but she did not get along with her dog either. So yesterday evening I took her to the pound. I cannot stop crying....she is young, only about a year, but I feel like I signed her death warrant and like I should have done something else. Am I a bad person for taking her to the pound?

  • Doggie Melanoma and surgery?

    Hi everyone.

My white boxer has a couple of very small red bumps on her leg. The vet wants to remove them and have them tested. I am all for this, but just spend 500 dollars on her at her last visit and the surgery will cost another 500 dollars. My question is how long do you think I can wait to get these removed. If I have to do it now I will, but I would rather wait a little bit. I just don't know how dangerous these lumps could be and I don't know anything about melanomas either.

    Thanks

  • Dogs pink and white nails turning blood red?

Hi all. My dog who is a white female spayed boxer of about 3 1/2 years is concerning me. She has sever allergies and is on medication for them. In the past couple of months I have noticed her nails, but only on the front paws are turning blood red. My vet does not seem to be concerned as her feet are not bothering her and she is acting normal but this is bothering me. Does anyone know what this could be? Do dogs get nail fungus? Any and all advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • Dog constipated and pooping sticks?

Hi my dog had an incident the other night that made his tummy feel bad, so apparently he ate tons of sticks, leaves and grass. That is now all he is pooping out and he's constipated. Vet suggested to give him pumpkin...did not take him in, just called. Do you think I should take him in? Is the pooping sticks cause for concern?
