Doggie Melanoma and surgery?
Hi everyone.
My white boxer has a couple of very small red bumps on her leg. The vet wants to remove them and have them tested. I am all for this, but just spend 500 dollars on her at her last visit and the surgery will cost another 500 dollars. My question is how long do you think I can wait to get these removed. If I have to do it now I will, but I would rather wait a little bit. I just don't know how dangerous these lumps could be and I don't know anything about melanomas either.
Thanks
Thanks, she has another appointment the 19th of Sept. I figured that it would be guess work from you guys but thought I'd see what everyone had to say. I'll ask when I take her back for her follow up.

The best answer you could get would be from a vet. Maybe you could try a second opinion. In something this serious unless someone has had the exact same problem, they would still be guessing.

I would do it now. Melanoma spreads very fast.My cousin's Golden Retriever died from it. She had it in her throat, and as she was old and had other health problems, they just treated her for pain. She was dead in 6 weeks. They had to euthanize her because she could not breathe anymore.
To avoid more tumors, don't take your dog out in the sun and wear sunscreen on her if you do take her out.
