SSD and OS PC Question?

Everyone says to put your Operating System on an Solid State Drive but does it really speed it up that much? Also right now all i can get is a normal disc drive, can I switch my OS to the SSD after its on my disc drive?

    yes and no.

    it does speed up boot times and access to windows files therefore speeding up the computer.SSD's have up to 500MB/s read and write speeds,vs an hdd's 100-150MB/s read and write speed.the more MB/s the faster windows can access files,the faster it boots,the more responsive your pc is.

    and no,you can't just switch the OS to the SSD.

    you could clone the drive later on and write everything thats on it to the ssd.

    or you could reinstall windows when you get the ssd.

    but you can't just clone the os to the ssd.

    If you don't have enough money for itI'd recommend just getting a relatively fast hdd like the samsung spinpoint f3

    All you like is the installation media on your OS, and then reinstall it on the SSD. you may get carry of lots of the Microsoft ones from digital River in case you have homestead windows, it incredibly is a non-difficulty for different OS consumers.
