fell down the stairs, quick answers please?

im home sick from work tonight and thank god for being ill tonight

i just woke up at 4am to a huge thud, my uncle who is staying round has fallen down the stairs ( about 6/7 steps) when i heard it i layed in my room after to see if someone had just fallen up the stairs like i always do and waited for movement, after about 30 seconds i heard nothing so went out and he was laying there still but responded as soon as i said something.

for about 7 mins he wouldnt move saying he felt sick and light headed when he moved, he finnaly got up and went to the toilet (even though i think he had just been as the toilet was left unflushed and the door was left wide open, that opens outwards so its generaly closed after use)

and now finnaly to ad i just followed him down the stairs to make sure he's ok and he looked in a lot of pain from his knees

hes 50

good heath

no illneses

do i call a doctor/999?

Update:

edit: thanks for the answers guys, i called nhs direct who wanted to put me through to a ambulance, after him talking them out of it i said i would stay up and monitor him untill morning when others are up, hes seems fine now

Well he can walk fine, so I don't think it's an emergency, unless he hit his head, you should ask him, in case he got a concussion. If so then you should take him to the hospital just in case, sometimes concussions can be really bad.

But if his knees are the only thing bothering him he can take some painkillers and wait to go to his normal doctor to get them checked out.

But if you are really worried, you should call like a 24 hour nurse hotline and tell them any symptoms and they will tell you what to do next.

Definitely have your uncle medically checked, whether it be calling an ambulance and having the medics check him, or take him to hospital, and have him checked

He sounds as though he may well have struck his head. It's important to have him checked for head, and other possible injuries.
