Would it be weird to write a letter to an old friend?

Question

A girl that I knew moved out of state a few years ago, and we were good friends a while before that.  I had thought of writing her a letter, and the reason I didn't was because I thought she might think it's a weird thing to do.  I know that I would be happy to get a letter, from anyone, just because they're so novel today, but I wanted to get a wider range of thoughts.

I would LOVE to get a good old fashioned letter in the mail instead of just bills!
I used to really look forward to getting letters from friends.  I wasn't great at writing back quickly, but every couple of months they would get a letter from me that was the size of a small novel.......and they told me they absolutely couldn't wait for my mail!

These days sadly, it is a brief email or a quick phone call on birthdays etc.

Go ahead and write to your friend.  She shouldn't think it weird and will very likely be surprised and pleased that your friendship meant something to you and that you have taken the time and trouble to actually write a letter.  Be sure to make it humerous, bring up some good times you had together, perhaps even some small tidbits of gossip/anecdotes - not nasty gossip though - about mutual friends etc.  Of course, it goes without saying that you don't make the whole letter about you.  Ask her how she is doing, what she has been up to, how her family/pets etc. are.

Start your letter by saying what you said here..............that you thought it would be novel/cute to send an actual letter instead of the impersonal internet to catch up and say Hi!

personally i think its a great idea. i did the same thing on a smaller scale because i had lost a friend and if you really get your point across it is a great idea. Reading a lettter from someone you were close to is sweet espcailly if it brings back old memories. and dont listen to what any one else says because it a sweet great idea that all girls love and it is a great way to stay connected with close friends.

I don't think it would be weird, in fact when I was 16, I wrote a freind who moved away when I was 14, hadn't talked to them since them day before they left, but we were close. 

So it wouldn't be weird to me.

Absolutley not wierd at all. In fact, I'm 100% positive she would love to hear from you. And if she doesnt? Well **** HER!!! LOL. You dont need people in your life who dont care for you. You need people who DO CARE FOR YOU. YOU NEED PEOPLE WHO WANT TO WRITE TO YOU. 

I wish my old friends would wright me. But they dont!
