Frank Zappa's "We're Only In It For The Money" album. It's a parody of The Beatles "Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band" album cover. I don't think he ever got to actually display it on the front of his album, he had to ask Paul McCartney for permission but it was denied.

I also like Green Days "Dookie" album cover. There's so much chaos going on on it, it almost looks like a Where's Waldo page...

I think, the first would have to be Rust in Peace followed closely by Peace Sells (Both by Megadeth), I think that Ed Repka did an amazing job of capturing the sound and cynicism of Dave Mustaine's mastermind musicality, as well as the colourful additions that Marty Friedman (Rust in Peace) and Chris Poland (Peace Sells) gave to the album with their stunning guitar expertise. If you think about Vic Rattlehead he's very comic book like and he just does the album covers like no-one else.

Ed Repka also did Death's early album covers 'Scream Bloody Gore', 'Leprosy', 'Spiritual Healing'. All of which are great albums.
