Why will windows no longer detect my graphics card?

Yesterday I took out my Graphics card to access a screw, so I unclipped it like I always do then got to the screw.

I then put the card back in and checked it was in, it made a weird noise, however nothing was damaged after I had thoroughly checked the PCI-E slot and no damage was found. Everything started up fine and all was working. However I un-installed some non-windows related programs then launched fallout, when it started all went windows 7 classic since and I can no longer launch games.

It just keeps coming up with "ERROR- unable to find renderer" which is obviously the graphics card, amd catalyst still detects the card and the clock speed and temperature, the fan is still on. So I guess it must just be windows then, however nothing was deleted and the graphics card is still all functioning as normal although I can't use it.

My graphics card is a AMD HD 6870, all the drivers are up to date according to catalyst, so please help me out. Thank you so much in advance :D

Can you try doing system restore?

That's one possible way to fix the problem.

And also think of that maybe your graphic driver has been damage.

Try to uninstall your display driver.

Then again install the graphic driver.

Sounds like maybe it isn't quite seated in the PCIe port properly. Or the contacts might have managed to scratch (let's hope not though).

Definitely just open it up again, re-seat the card and make sure everything like the PCIe power cable (if applicable for your card... though your fan is running so this wouldn't likely be an issue...) is plugged in.

Once you turn the PC back on, try uninstalling the drivers then grabbing the newest ones again.

If it still fails, see if you have a secondary PCIe port and use that. You don't have another video card handy to test with either I suppose?

Unusual issue though I must say...

    Good luck!
