Ghost(band) is overrated?
Okay, okay, so I don't care that much if people over-hype and I don't want to name the guy who wrote this or where I found, but I'll let you know it was on a Ghost video on youtube. If you don't know who Ghost are, they're a metal band with a lot of influences from 70's bands and they got really popular in 2010 and then even more popular after they went on Hellfest or something.

Here's the youtube comment that almost made me piss my pants

Any other metal fans wondering what the hell he's talking about?
Nobody really cares but this is the internet and it's good discussion. Also, the pure absurdity of that comment deserves recognition.

I'm a big fan of Ghost but 'a band that will go down in history'? 'how ahead of their time they are'? Seriously? They sound like they are from the 60s/70s.
Ghost is a great band but that fan is overreacting.
Ghost(band) is overrated? - they are only popular in underground scene. In my opinion, they are not that overrated.
'This is not an overstatement. Ghost is one of the most talented bands of all time.' - Well, this is an overstatement. You can love a band but your favorite band doesn't equal one of the greatest bands in the world.

They're certainly talented, they have a great sense of melody, great image, and are just a fun listening experience. That being said, I definitely feel they are overrated. They're not really offering anything new to traditional doom and heavy metal; they just play the styles competently is all. But still, I do give them props for potentially introducing people to other bands like Pallbearer, Blood Ceremony, and even older bands like Mercyful Fate. I wouldn't take the hype or the hatred so seriously.
