Electric hot water heater leaking?
I have an electric hot water heater (i THINK) yesterday our dryer wouldnt come on and today no hot water. We have a breaker to both in the utility room and they were fine. Just out of curiosity checked the other breakers on the side of the house and one was tripped. Reset it and both dryer and hot water heater started working so apparently my breakers had a breaker. Took a shower, did a load of laundry and left the house for a couple hoirs. Come back and notice water outside my utility room. While i'm checking around i notice that a pipe leading from the HWH leading outside is trickling. Open the refief valve to wide open and let water out then closed the valve. Still a trickle of water coming out of the pipe. Any ideas? Dont know how old the HWH is it was in the house when we moved in in 07. Could the breaker tripping cause the leak? Why did the breaker trip? Is it common for a breaker to have a breaker? lol Any other things i can do to get the leak to stop? Thanks

Seems as if i'm the one one right here, instead of your self, that has ever obvious a water heater similar to yours. They were known as cabinet heaters, as they might be installed correct in with the cupboards in the kitchen, in almost the distance of a dishwasher, which made them very easy to plan for in the entire scheme of the kitchen area. A further factor that ladies by and large, appreciated lots, was once that with the hot water tank right there under the cupboard, they had scorching water close to immediately, once they opened a faucet. Anyway, they have not been made for relatively some time, which makes this one beautiful old and certainly, in line to get replaced as an alternative than repaired. The very hot water was caused by means of a thermostat going off on it is own tangent and now not shutting down when it must. In new items there may be a hi limit reset method, atop the higher thermo that shuts the unit down when this sort of factor starts to arise. Unfortunately, you're going to need a plumber or an awfully skilled handiman, to therapy this concern, as this unit isn't going to be of so much use and you'll be able to ought to pull it out to get to the pipes to run them to the new unit. You are going to need to to find somewhere else in the residence to put in a unit that's going to be fairly a bit taller, and round. Your historic unit need to had been electric, so you'll be able to frequently need to have an electrician are available and re-route the wiring to the brand new water heater as good. This is not going to be an low priced assignment, i am afraid. So, don't fear about the place the leak is coming from, just get the energy grew to become off and the water provide to the heater grew to become off, then find the folks you are going to ought to aid you get the thing changed.

Breaker tripping would not cause it to leak.No breakers don't usually have breakers. The pressure relief leaking could just be a weakening valve.Replace it first as they are not expensive.

The T&P valve has begun to fail. Either call a handyman or a plumber (which would charge more) to have it replaced. It is a simple fix. The most popular model is a Watts 150.
