Who's side are you on?

I don't think I'm too crazy in saying this, but if the disclaimer of interest goes through and the players win in court, then could that be the nail in the coffin for the NHL? Essentially the players could make up to three times their salary if they win a lawsuit, and if the owners have to pay that it seems like it could be the end.

What do you think will happen in the courts, and who's side (or I should say who is being more resonable in this lockout) are you on?

There are some facts to consider.

    1) A professional sports league has never lost an anti trust suit in a US court. This won't happen at this time either.

    2) The NHL filed in the New York court a counter suit saying that they were not in breach of trust. New York is an owner friendly venue for this type of action.

    3) If the NHLPA files a disclaimer of interest, the NHL will then be able to declare all contracts and agreements as null and void. NHL minimum salary will then drop from $525K per year to $10.25 per hour. Contract guarantees will then become two weeks notice not full guarantees.

    4) Teams will be able to fold and close operations at will without ramifications.

    5) All those fancy contracts with signing bonuses will be over.

Here is a point of interest. The players are united behind Fehr with the common cry that the NHL will not break the NHLPA. And today the players themselves are folding up their union. Somewhere, someplace, someone can make sense of that but unfortunately it's not me.

This is trivial, but the NFL did in fact lose to the United States Football League's anti-trust lawsuit on all nine counts. Their penalty? $3.00 in damages. Yep, 3 bucks. http://articles.latimes.com/1986-07-30/sports/sp-1...

I've completely lost interest in this lockout. The NHL can fold for all I care, and I'm from an Original Six city, and a passionate hockey fan. The players caved in the last time. Nick Lidstrom must have known something by retiring at the end of last season.

Player pay could well be cut to $10.75 an hour, and the owners would still charge over $100 for upper level seats. To hell with them.

I keep hearing over and over, decertification of the union, all contracts being null and void.

If the players win, there will be teams going under and less jobs for the players so does that

benefit them? I don't think so, but they do.

    the players cannot win.

if the union is dissolved whatever happens they loose.

if they keep on the strike they loose,

if they sign now they still loose but at least they can start making money again.

Somebody should tell the players that management will always win, it's just how it is.

    Donald Fehr is an idiot.

The NHL gives up so much and ALL YOU HAVE TO DO is agree on max contract length when 10 year contracts hurt the league?

If they had agreed on max contract length and CBA term, we'd be playing hockey right now.

He even supposedly told the players to "reject any offer until they could get more out of it" although they were basically set on a deal. **** this guy.
