Flyers in 12'

  • Potassium Sulfite?

I am at a loss here, my question is asking to give the total and net ionic balanced equations with state symbols for the reaction:

Potassium Sulfite reacts with Copper (II) Oxide and I came up with:

    K2SO3(aq) + CuO(aq) --> CuSO3(aq) + K2O(aq)

It seems too easy considering everything is balanced and the net would be the same? Am I right?

Also the next one asked for the same stuff but when reacting Ammonium Carbonate and nitric acid: For that one I came up with:

    (NH4)2CO3 (aq) + 2HNO3 (aq) ---> 2NH4NO3 (aq) + H2O (l) + CO2 (g)

    Is this correct?

  • Any Flyers fans coming to jump off a bridge with me?

Mark Streit 4 years at 5.25 mil per.

    Lets Recap:

2010: Stanley Cup Final, things looking up with a good core of Mike Richards and Jeff Carter, with a blossoming JVR and Claude Giroux.

2011: Sergei Bobrovsky comes up an shows promise, a very quick goaltender.

Summer 2011: Richards and Carter both traded just a year after their 1st cup final and 2nd conference final in 4 seasons. Ilya Bryzgalov who went 0-4 with a .879 S% and 4.36 GAA in the 2011 playoffs is signed at $5.6 AAV.

Summer 2012 - James Van Riemsdyk and Sergei Bobrovsky are traded.

    June 17th, 2013:

Mike Richards resume includes and Olympic Gold, A Stanley Cup, 2 Cup finals, and 4 Conference Finals in 6 seasons.

Jeff Carter - Stanley Cup Winner, 4th in the NHL in goals in 2013.

James Van Riemsdyk - Led the Leafs in playoff scoring in 2013, 3rd on the team in points during the regular season.

Sergei Bobrovsky: 2013 Vezina Winner at $1.75M AAV (2.00GAA, .932 S%) compared to Ilya Bryzgalov who had $5.6M AAV (2.79 with a .900 S%). Bryzgalov in his 2 seasons here has never posted better numbers than Bobrovsky did as a starter in Philadelphia in 2011 (2.59 GAA, .915 S% as A ROOKIE)

Now Ilya Bryzgalov is being bought out for Steve Mason, who was Bobrovsky's old backup in Columbus. Danny Briere is being bought out for a 35 year old defensemen who is significantly overpaid, and who's cap hit the flyers are stuck with for 4 years, regardless (and who Matt Carle who have been a better fit for the around same price and with less risk). Schenn and Couturier (who are largely unproven players compared to Richards and Carter), Giroux, Read, Mcginn, Meszaros, and Timonen will all be free agents next summer and the Flyers will only have around $20million (assuming Briere and Bryz buyouts) to fill their void. I'm sick of Flyers management to be honest.

    Thought's on Streit?

  • Does this show how much of a whiny crybaby Don Fehr is?

So let me get this straight. The NHL made a proposal almost a week ago, and magically after the NHLPA "does the right thing" and doesn't file the disclaimer, Fehr tells the players that the NHL proposed loopholes in HRR and is "hiding" money?

Seems to me like Fehr just wanted to gain good face and not decertify, then come out with some reason almost a WEEK after the last offer and say that the PA is mad because the NHL took back some of the HRR. So you mean to tell me it took them 5 days to find that? Or you just wanted to look like the good guy, then file the disclaimer

Thoughts on round 492 of this stupid, senseless battle? And Fehr's little tactic?

  • Who's side are you on?

I don't think I'm too crazy in saying this, but if the disclaimer of interest goes through and the players win in court, then could that be the nail in the coffin for the NHL? Essentially the players could make up to three times their salary if they win a lawsuit, and if the owners have to pay that it seems like it could be the end.

What do you think will happen in the courts, and who's side (or I should say who is being more resonable in this lockout) are you on?

Don Fehr: Taking down sports one league at a time.

  • Everyone knows that "one guy"?

Who's a guy on your favorite team that you like but everyone else seems to think is horrible?

    Mine is Matt Carle.

  • Try and watch this without shedding a tear. But Really..?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OohqTf5uvkY&feature...

    Not even kidding.

    Real Question.

Who are you rooting for in the opposite conference? (i.e. if you're a fan of a team in the East, who do you want to see good out West?)

Or if your team is out, who would you like to see win, and why?

  • Karma, Is Shanahan in for it now?

I'm very interested to see what happens. Torres just railed Hossa, and he was carted off on a stretcher. Neal hit Couturier on Sunday, which was virtually the same thing, Couturier had actually been without the puck longer than Hossa. Both Torres and Neal are repeat offenders. Hossa's injury appears more serious than Couturier. Neal got nothing, what does Torres get?

Nicklas Backstrom cross-checked a player in the face last night in the Boston-Washington game. Aaron Asham did virtually the same thing to Brayden Schenn. Asham got 4 games, does that mean Backstrom should get 4? I agree with Asham's suspension, and I think Backstrom should get the same. Neither Asham nor Backstrom had been suspended before, and neither recipient was hurt. What does Backstrom get?

These NHL Playoffs have been amazing so far. But the level of respect is unbelievable. There is none. More importantly, league officials are NOT controlling it. Carkner gets one game for literally mauling an unwilling recipient? Shea Weber gets a $2,500 for something out of an MMA fight? Noit acceptable.

Just wanna know your thoughts and what do you think Torres and Backstrom will get? Also, do you think Neal (remember suspended for the Giroux hit, NOT the Couturier hit) and Asham got the right suspensions?

  • Is Shanahan losing control?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwR_2EOGwRI&feature...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QtipTlOscg

By the rules it seems like both Nystrom and Kronwall should have faced discipline, especially Nystrom. There also was Chris Neil's hit on Boychuk, but I can't find a good angle to see if it was to the head or not.

    Opinions?

  • Input on this Goal/No Goal?

Was fooling around on youtube and came across this from about a year ago...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUGc5gn4wHs

Was that call right? It's just a weird situation but I had thought since Miller touched the puck that the high stick is negated...Doesn't really matter now but it was just an interesting play.

  • Patrick Kaleta's Suspension?

    http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=598758&navid=DL...

    4 game suspension....agree or disagree?

Personally, I'm fed up with him. He's a dirtbag.

  • Is this a little outrageous?

    http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/S...

I honestly can't believe this is becoming this big of a deal. I've played hockey for years and I am also a referee, these things are always happening, especially at the uppper levels (15 y/o +) and most refs take it with a grain of salt, if they even hear it at all. I'm sure this happens all the time, it just so happened that Sean Avery didn't like it, and it was caught on camera. Is this a situation where, if you can't take the heat get out of the ktichen? Or should it actually be taken seriously.

GLAAD even issued a statement at the Flyers.

Quite frankly, i think it's ridiculous.

  • Why has the Winter Classic not been announced yet? (+Bonus)?

It's usually announced in June. I know the Flyers and Rangers are on the schedule for January 2nd and are supposed to be in it, but why hasn't the NHL officially announced this yet?

BQ - Would you like to see the high stick rule moved back to the shoulder? It's not that using the crossbar is too low, it's just that it's a bad reference point for video review as opposed to the shoulder where there would be solid evidence everytime.

  • NHL FANS...and Flyers fans....?

To NHL fans in general - Would you like to have Jeff Carter (Career: 461 GP, 181 G, 162 A, 343 P, +51....$5mil) or Mike Richards (Career: 453 GP, 133 G, 216 A, 349 P, +39....$5.75mil) on your team for the current price the Flyers pay? Do you think it's a bargain? Or a ripoff?

Flyers fans, what reason do you have for wanting to strip away Mike Richards' "C" so fast?

  • Have you ever.......?

Predicted the entire Stanley Cup Playoffs right (not series length, just series winners?) If so, what year?

I ask this because EA Sports did an NHL 11 simulation of the first round and went 8 for 8, and in the 2nd round they have predicted the Canucks (in 7), Sharks (in 6), Bolts (in 7), and Bruins (in 5) to win. Scary.

  • Did Mike Richards....?

Win this series "behind the scenes" for the Flyers?

    http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2011/04/21/toda...

It seemed like after game 4 when the whole war of words started, the Sabres became really focused on everything Richards did. The Flyers lost game 5, but they exposed Buffalo by having them blow a 3-0 lead, and then in game 6 Buffalo blew 2 more leads, and Miller was further irked by the hit on Connoly. Through all of these comments made by Miller and Ruff, Laviolette and Richards stayed relatively quiet. Do you think Richards had kind of a hidden, yet huge impact on the course this series took?

  • Could the NHL possibly be getting fans handed to them?

Next year, it's looking like the NFL may go on strike, and possible that the NBA could also go on strike. With this happening, and the with the popularity of the NHL only going up the past 4 years, could the NHL "boom" in a way next year? If so, what do you think they could do to seize the opportunity?

  • If the playoffs started today....?

    Pick em'

    (1)Vancouver vs (8)Anaheim (series tied 2-2)

    (2)Detroit vs (7)Chicago (Hawks lead 2-1)

(3)San Jose vs (6) Nashville (series tied 2-2)

    (4)Phoenix vs (5)Los Angeles (Yotes lead 3-2)

    (1)Philadelphia vs (8)Buffalo (Flyers lead 2-1)

(2)Washington vs (7)New York Rangers (Rangers lead 3-1)

    (3)Boston vs (6)Montreal (Habs lead 4-1)

(4)Pittsburgh vs (5) Tampa Bay (Pens lead 2-1)

BQ - Which one of these would be the one you'd be MOST interested in?(I know this is clear cut for me)
