Well to me it looked like clean...I dk if you agree, but Havlat had the puck. Kronwall went in and hit him. It looked to me like Havlat should have had his head up. He didn't blind-side him. Kronwall is a Defenseman, and he is a physical force on the Wings. If Havlat didn't have the puck or wasn't trying to make a play for the puck then I would say it was dirty. What did you think?

edit: Okay after watching it like 5 times, and pausing it on the actual impact and right after, I did not see an elbow to the face. This is what it looked like too me. Kronwall goes in to hit him, and when he does, his arm/shoulder was up to Havlats chest. When Havlat starts to go down, Kronwall's elbow raises up. It makes sense considering if Havlat is leaning back (because he is falling), Kronwall's elbow would be at the same height as Havlats head...but there was no contact made with the elbow. Also from what I see, when Kronwall starts to make the hit on Havlat, Kronwall is lowering his body, to make sure he doesn't elbow him in the head. But right after the hit happens, Kronwall looks like he is thrown a bit off balance from the Impact, resulting in his feet leaving the ice, but this is after the hit already happened. Sorry, I hope you understand what I was trying to say......After re-watching it I didn't see any elbow, no charging, just a good clean hard hitting hit that does look bad when you look at Havlat after, but It's Hockey and If your playing the puck you should know to keep your head up, because 9 times out of 10 you will get hit.

From an angle you can see Kronwall extending his arm and thats what impacts Havlat's face. Simply said, I dont think it was clean. A suspension would be a little much but a 5 minute major seems right. If Richards got no suspension for the hit on Booth then this is definately no suspension.

Props to Byfuglien for sticking up for his team.

Look dude, im a Red Wings fan, I could careless about Kronwall, The Hawks, or an old call, but every time i've seen that guy hit its clean. He never hits that often. A guy like Ovenchicken is arguable, he leaves his feets and he loves to throw his weight around. Kronwall is a good D, but every time I watch the games I think "**** why doesnt this guy hit more often?" I heard a commentator say once: "Kronwall is the best D that makes it look like he's gonna keep skating when-BOOM you're done."

Watch the video again and look at how fast he transitions from forwards to backwards.

Watch it again and look at the Hawk player from the time he recovers the puck to the time he looks up.

Its that fast that he transitions. Some may say thats easy but Nik does it with such speed and covers so much ice in so little time.

    Clean.

no. left his feet and hit him in the head. on another note i would like to point out how STUPID it is when theres a dirty hit and the player is hurt his teammates jump the offending pleyer ON TOP OF THE GUY! we saw it with the bertuzzi incedent where all the avs jump on bertuzzi and moore causing the majority of moores injury. and with this hit they are almost stepping on havlats face. pull the guy away THEN beat him up.

What's the big deal? I didn't see any brains fall out. No brains, clean hit.

Seriously though, no charge, no elbow, no stick, clean hit. Keep your head up.
