Any Flyers fans coming to jump off a bridge with me?
Mark Streit 4 years at 5.25 mil per.
Lets Recap:
2010: Stanley Cup Final, things looking up with a good core of Mike Richards and Jeff Carter, with a blossoming JVR and Claude Giroux.
2011: Sergei Bobrovsky comes up an shows promise, a very quick goaltender.
Summer 2011: Richards and Carter both traded just a year after their 1st cup final and 2nd conference final in 4 seasons. Ilya Bryzgalov who went 0-4 with a .879 S% and 4.36 GAA in the 2011 playoffs is signed at $5.6 AAV.
Summer 2012 - James Van Riemsdyk and Sergei Bobrovsky are traded.
June 17th, 2013:
Mike Richards resume includes and Olympic Gold, A Stanley Cup, 2 Cup finals, and 4 Conference Finals in 6 seasons.
Jeff Carter - Stanley Cup Winner, 4th in the NHL in goals in 2013.
James Van Riemsdyk - Led the Leafs in playoff scoring in 2013, 3rd on the team in points during the regular season.
Sergei Bobrovsky: 2013 Vezina Winner at $1.75M AAV (2.00GAA, .932 S%) compared to Ilya Bryzgalov who had $5.6M AAV (2.79 with a .900 S%). Bryzgalov in his 2 seasons here has never posted better numbers than Bobrovsky did as a starter in Philadelphia in 2011 (2.59 GAA, .915 S% as A ROOKIE)
Now Ilya Bryzgalov is being bought out for Steve Mason, who was Bobrovsky's old backup in Columbus. Danny Briere is being bought out for a 35 year old defensemen who is significantly overpaid, and who's cap hit the flyers are stuck with for 4 years, regardless (and who Matt Carle who have been a better fit for the around same price and with less risk). Schenn and Couturier (who are largely unproven players compared to Richards and Carter), Giroux, Read, Mcginn, Meszaros, and Timonen will all be free agents next summer and the Flyers will only have around $20million (assuming Briere and Bryz buyouts) to fill their void. I'm sick of Flyers management to be honest.
Thought's on Streit?

I can give you directions if you want:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benjamin_Franklin_Bri...
You're surprised that a team with a 38 year cup drought is making bad decisions?
Ed Snider has become the Al Davis of hockey. Had a great few years when he started, then fell into an absolutely delusional style of ownership.
As for Streit, he would be a great pickup 3 years ago. He has regressed over the past 2 years and will only continue to as he ages. He will not fix philadelphia's blue line, and I doubt he will be with the team for the entirety of that contract.

Im not a flyers fan but I think your being to harsh on yourself and your team. Yes perhaps some bad moves were made, but you have a really promising team. You guys can score 5-6 goals a game, problem is you let in 7 goals. If you get the goaltending situation finally figured out you have a pretty complete team. With Giroux, hartnell, voracek simmonds, read and good defensmen. I think you guys will make the playoffs this coming season unless with the cap problem you guys blow your whole team up, otherwise, I think you guys will end your one year playoff drought next season!!
