Do you have to give two weeks notice when you've only been working for a few weeks?

I took a part time job at a salon, and they've only been giving me max. 9 hours a week.

So I don't even make enough to pay for the most basic things I need to.

I also rarely get 9 hours a week as we are always closing earlier.

I can't get any more hours, and I need to quit.

Is it required that I have 2 weeks notice when I've only been working there for 3 weeks?

My boss isn't very nice and I don't feel like the remaining 2 weeks would be made pleasent.

No one has to give two weeks notice but if you want to use that job as a reference in the future you should give two weeks notice. if you do want to quit explain to your boss that nine hours a week isnt working for you be polite or try talking to your boss about getting more hours or offer to work peoples shifts when they want the day offf maybe your boss will work for you or offer to clean up the salon when it closes. Also in the end think of this: lots of people dont even have jobs so nine hours a week is better than nothing and you have that at least if you dont have a job lined up keep the one you have and who knows if you stick around long enough someone else may get fired or quit and you can pick up their hours best of luck

Look for a job and find one before quitting this one !!!

    The statistics are out there.

It is easier to find a job when you already have one.

And... it looks like you have spare time.

Are you crazy? Do not quit a job unless you have another lined up.

I would not bother giving more than 2 day's notice.

Sounds like they don't really need you.

No, you don't have to give 2 weeks (or any) notice.

Most people give reasonable notice because they don't want to burn any bridges (ie, they want to get a good reference from past employers). But this doesn't sound like it's a issue for you, so quit whenever you want.

there is no law that requires you to give a notice, if you have a good relationship with an employer then it's best to give notice to help them out with time to fill your shift. but if its like you said...say goodbye and dont worry about it at all. or just dont come back, they wont bat an eye, they will just hire someone else and hope for the best.
