suggestions for new camera?
I am so technology challenged. I want to get a new camera as mine is on the fritz. I know some features that I would like but do not know how to navigate all the lingo such as optical zoom, digital zoom, mp, 720p, high definition, etc.
Features that I would like include: still pictures and video without sacrificing the quality of either, waterproof (can take pictures and videos beneath water), be able to zoom in and out while capturing a video (my current camera will not do this), temperature resistant (can take good pictures and videos when the temperatures are cold or hot such as in the snow (current camera it shows up purple), shock resistant (i'm clumsy and would like to have it in my pocket when running), the ability to import it to my windows xp or windows vista (This is where the high definition stuff starts to worry me.) I would also like to be able to put it on DVD to watch on a regular television.
Any suggestions for brand and model of camera to get or even not to get? Also what is a good mp, digital zoom, optical zoom, etc combination? I'm not into photography really big time or anything, but do want something decent yet affordable too...under $200, preferably under $140

You will want a ruggedized/waterproof camera, such as an Olympus TG-820, Nikon AW100, etc.

It is imore primary to have a excellent lens than the most up-to-date body. So look for offers on Canon and Nikon our bodies from a couple of years again (refurbs will come with warrantee). Suppose about including a Tamron 18-270 lens to that digicam body. Consider Sony. The A 580 was an high-quality DSLR. In case you go for the more recent SLT items you'll run out of budget when you add that 18-270 rather of the insufficient package lens. (I put a Sony 18-one hundred thirty five on my present A57, it can be best however the longer attain would generally be first-rate.)

You could get all that without video ( http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/842475-REG/P... ) or without waterproofing ( http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/887285-REG/P... ). It's your call.
