  • If someone were to learn Hebrew would they be able to read early Biblical manuscripts?

It is my understanding that none of the original manuscripts that make up the Bible still exist. So my question is, if some one wanted to learn a language to read the most original version we have, what language would that be? Would Hebrew as it would normally be taught today do the trick, or would you need to learn some older version of Hebrew? Of course I'm referring the the Old Testament. I realize that for the New Testament, Greek is the language. While I'm on the topic of the New Testament, the same question applies for it, could you learn Greek and understand early manuscripts or do you need to know some special older form of Greek? I would appreciate any knowledge someone may have on this topic.

  • suggestions for 14inch laptops or lightweight 15inch?

I'm extremely undecisive, but these are the things I want:

    Under $500

14inch screen or a 15 that has a numeric keyboard and is still lightweight...say less that 5.5lbs.

    DVD/CD drive

    4GB

Is there any possibility that there is a 14inch that has the numeric keyboard. I have to enter data sometimes so it's nice having it there, but I also want a smaller more portable laptop.

I've been looking at an acer aspire E 441 14 inch. The picture showed a the numeric keypad, but it apparently doesn't have it.

Suggestions about particular models or brands in general?

  • no internet connection after installing printer?

I just connected a new printer and installed the software for it. It is a Canon Pixma MG3222 First, we had disconnected everything (power cord, ethernet, etc.) from the computer to dust and I am certain everything has been plugged back in correctly....but I don't know disconnecting the ethernet cable, cleaning, and connecting it again created a problem.

Anyway, we have the printer hooked up via usb. We installed the software for it and now there is no internet connection on the computer it is hooked up to. The wireless connection on my laptop.

Any suggestions on what is wrong and what to do? Thanks!

  • advice for semi-wiry mixed breed itching?

I have a mixed breed terrier something another that is having a battle with itchiness right now. Her hair is wiry, but also has soft, really fine hair mixed in. She has had two allergy shots(depomedrol) recently, benadryl, and crlaratin (as recommended by the vet). None seem to work. She gets bathed in hypoallergenic shampoo which we try not to do too often....once a month or maybe twice if she gets nasty. She doesn't have fleas and has had Andvantix just in case.

Any suggestions on what measures can be taken to combat here problems...medicine, food, shampoo, etc.? A lot of people with wire haired dogs seem to run into this problem, but wanted to know if there was any specific advice people would have for her hair coat type.

  • 94 mercury villager's windshield wipers coming on by themselves and won't shut off?

The windshield wipers turn on along with the windshield wiper fluid spraying out without putting them on. The problem has tried to be resolved by putting a new switch in, but that didn't fix the problem. Any ideas on what the problem is and how to fix it?

  • need some help on shopping, clothes and shoe ideas?

So, I'm beginning grad school and realize I probably shouldn't wear my t-shirts, hoodies, and athletic shoes with my jeans anymore. This is problematic because that is my comfort zone in a major kind of way. I become so self-conscious wearing more dressy clothes. I know, I know...I shouldn't care what other people think, but it's a genetic temperamental shyness. So my question is what are some good ideas for being more professional/dressy without leaving my comfort zone hard core? Also what are some good stores that are not expensive and are easy to locate in most sizable towns? Additional info: I'm in my early 20's and am tall and slender. Pictures of ideas would be a bonus! Thank you!

  • college backpack suggestions?

I need a backpack for school that is under $60, but I am pretty picky. Here are the features I would like it to have: two main large compartments and a third or more smaller compartments, toward the large end (I carry a lot of stuff in it including a 17" laptop occasionally), durable, water resistant (not a must, but would be nice- and no pull out rain cover, the backpack itself), sternum strap would also be nice and hydration compatibility, but not a must. I like the patagonia fuego, but it is too expensive. Any suggestions?

  • Monk: the complete series...where to get it?

So I love Monk, but haven't seen all the episodes! I don't want to see the last season until I see all the episodes leading up to it. I'm behind....I know. Anyway, I want to purchase the complete series, but don't know where to do so. I have looked at Amazon, and it is expensive. I have found other sites where it is cheaper, but I don't know what is trustworthy. Any suggestions for inexpensive yet safe? Thanks!

  • suggestions for new camera?

I am so technology challenged. I want to get a new camera as mine is on the fritz. I know some features that I would like but do not know how to navigate all the lingo such as optical zoom, digital zoom, mp, 720p, high definition, etc.

Features that I would like include: still pictures and video without sacrificing the quality of either, waterproof (can take pictures and videos beneath water), be able to zoom in and out while capturing a video (my current camera will not do this), temperature resistant (can take good pictures and videos when the temperatures are cold or hot such as in the snow (current camera it shows up purple), shock resistant (i'm clumsy and would like to have it in my pocket when running), the ability to import it to my windows xp or windows vista (This is where the high definition stuff starts to worry me.) I would also like to be able to put it on DVD to watch on a regular television.

Any suggestions for brand and model of camera to get or even not to get? Also what is a good mp, digital zoom, optical zoom, etc combination? I'm not into photography really big time or anything, but do want something decent yet affordable too...under $200, preferably under $140

  • I want to see if other people experience daytime sleepiness in this manner?

First of all, no, I do not always get my eight hours of sleep. Usually, it is about 6 hours, but I want to see if people who experience daytime sleepiness have a similar experience. Do we experience the same? Does the sleepiness hit you abruptly? This is how it starts for me: I am usually wide awake and very alert then out of nowhere it comes over me like a wave. I can feel it coming but it is usually full blown in like 3 minutes or less. I've always questioned whether I have narcolepsy or something, but the thing is I can stay awake if I fight it really hard. Most commonly it happens in the afternoon, but can happen in the mornings around 9:30a.m or in the evenings around 7:00 or 8:00. The two most common activities I am doing when it happens is driving and reading. The driving is really the part I want to ask about. I will be fully alert before getting in the car and sometimes during the commute it will hit. It gets worse and worse but I manage to stay awake, but everything gets like dreamlike (almost like derealization). I am aware of what I am driving, I know where to go but thoughts kind of get scattered, racing, and strange and everything just seems really weird and confusing. It takes everything I can to stay awake. Sometimes my eyes will go cross-eyed where I am fighting it so much. Sometimes I wonder if I am actually sleeping in a semi-conscious state. When it comes to reading, I try to fight it, but I guess because I know I'm not in danger, I just lay my head down and I'm out for 15 to 30 minutes usually. I've also been writing before and continue to write, usually not staying on the line. If I sleep it off or fight it long enough, it eventually goes away, usually going away almost as sudden as it came. Another thing when I get done driving it can still stick around a little bit when I'm walking where I need to go. I know not getting enough sleep is probably a big culprit, I just don't understand why when I have gotten like 2 hours of sleep, I can feel alert all day but I can sleep 10 hours and it can still hit me. Anyone have a similar experience? Is this normal? Am I just being a hypochondriac.

  • dog breed dna testing?

I know it is probably not the best use of money, but we've been considering ordering a DNA test for a couple of our mixed breed dogs. So far I've heard of Wisdom panel and Canine heritage. Does anyone know of other companies that offer this and what are your opinions about the companies? What is the best one to go with in your opinion? How accurate do you feel they are? On the form that you have to fill out, what kind of information do you have to provide? I mean I don't want to tell them I think he looks like a standard poodle/ aussie mix and this is what he looks like. I want to make sure there is no bias or cheating. ;) Also, do you know of any deals for testing multiple dogs? We have six and all except for one is a mixed breed so it would be awesome to find a great deal for multi-dog owners and test them all.

  • curly tail dog holding tail down?

I have a terrier mix who usually holds her tail curled (like a northern breed dog such as a husky). Shortly after her bath yesterday she has been holding the tail down. The bath was cold water so I am wondering if it could be "cold tail" or "limber tail" which I read was common among sporting/hunting dogs. She doesn't seem to be in any pain and it is still able to curl when she uses the bathroom but then flops back down after a few seconds. I am certain it isn't behavioral like showing submissiveness because she has been in excited states since then which would in the past always produce a very curled tail. Now it just comes up about halfway or curls sideways and goes back down. Anal glands is a second guess I have because she was chewing herself a little but is also itchy all over (not uncommon for her). The more I look at her it doesn't appear to be anal gland related but if anyone has had experience with a dog holding its tail down due to anal gland irritation would love to know. Also, has anyone ever had a curly-tailed dog to get limber tail or exhibit this at all? Thanks for any ideas.

  • Not sure why I have upper back pain and how to make it go away?

For the last couple of days I have pain in my upper back. It is hard to describe because it is like it feels weird more than it hurts, although it hurts too. The place that bothers me the most is the base of the neck it think, like where my neck ends and the back begins (I don't know anything about anatomy). I feel like my spine is poking out there. It hurts the most to sit up against the couch, which is soft! Nothing else hurts, just my back. I had stayed up all night working on homework, hunched over a bit, could that have caused it? I can't think of anything else. I am a major sloucher anyway, but with this I feel like I need to sit up straight, but then when I do it doesn't help. Ibuprofen didn't help much, and the heat bad was hard to position just right and it helped only slightly. I'm being a big baby about it, but I just can't get comfortable and I'm too young for this!!! Any suggestions?

  • photoshop advice for a project?

So I am needing some photo editing software for this project: I am going to be taking dog pictures. I will need to preserve the original. I need to crop at different places. I will need just the head. Then for a second picture, just the body, and the third just the tail. So for all types, the original, head shot, body shot, tail shot, I will need to have a background that is the same. I will be using other dogs, so it is important that the background is the same for every shot every dog. I need to be able to change the background using the software. I know photoshop is supposed to be good. I have looked up the CS5 extended version for students and teachers. Can anyone tell me if this is a good product for the editing that I will need? Will I be able to do everything that I mentioned? Also, what kind of info will they need to verify that I am a student? Any information about the helpfulness of photoshop and the ease of using it would be appreciated. Also, if you have any information about another type of photo editing software let me know. Thanks so much!

  • need advise about hair products?

I am confused about what kind of hair products I need for my hair. I have medium length very straight and very fine hair. When I get my hair cut ( I always go to a walk-in salon and get a different hair dresser each time) they always comment on how my hair tangles so badly. Then they always ask if I use conditioner and what kind of shampoo I am using. They always tell me to use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. This time she said that it felt like their was a wax build-up on my hair. Before I left she put some kind of gloss in my hair. Wouldn't that make it more waxy feeling??? I have tried using moisturizing shampoo and conditioner but it always seems to make it really oily. Right now I am using herbal essence touchably smooth shampoo. I haven't tried the conditioner because conditioners make my hair oily, but the shampoo makes it feel awful. Like it will feel oily right out of the shower, and I can rinse and rinse and it never seems to rinse out completely. I wonder if this is the wax feeling she was talking about. I guess my question for everyone would be is what kind of shampoo do I actually need? Do I need moisturizing products and use conditioner because my hair is tanglely and can be dry? If I do how can I combat the oiliness? I have to wash my hair everyday because it is oily and sometimes it won't hold out the whole day without feeling oily. I like the sleek shiny look but it always seems to be oily instead :( Then if I use a more cleansing shampoo that takes care of oiliness it feel too dried out. Ahhh! Also what are your product suggestions? Something affordable that can be bought at a supermarket like walmart would be great!

  • trouble with pictures on the computer?

on my windows xp desktop I have several subfolders of pictures within the "my pictures" folder. When I open my pictures I see those folders and it has sample pictures of what is in the folder displayed on the folder icon. If I look at the properties for the folders it shows that there are so many files within that folder and shows the megabytes too. The problem is when I open the folder, there are no pictures. I have tried to view them as a slide show, share them with my laptop, same problem...no pictures! The slide show thing says something like no files to preview or something like that. The pictures that are saved in "my pictures" that are not in a subfolder are fine. I can preview them, edit them, whatever. I don't know if I have a virus or what? everything else seems to be fine. Any suggestions as to how I can get my pictures and/or what the problem is? Thanks in advance!

  • My dog makes funny noises when breathing?

My 35 lb. terrier mix makes this noise that is somewhat halfway between a snort and breathing through a stuffy nose. She has done it for as long as I've had her I think...but it would just be every now and then, but now I've noticed that she is doing it more. Her nose is not runny. She seems to feel ok. It is almost sounds like that nasty sucking back snot to your throat that some people do. haha, except it is much more quiet. She seems to do it while breathing in and it is just a few quick nasal snorting sounds while inhaling. I plan on taking her to the vet if it persists, but I was wondering if anyone has ever experienced this situation with your dog. Oh and one more detail...it almost sounds like the sounds of a boston terrier, french bulldog, boxer, etc., but her muzzle is long and doesn't have that flat smashed in look appearance at all. Thanks!

  • question about the christy tv series and the movies?

I have watched seasons 1 and 2 and it ended with christy having to choose between david and the doctor. From what I gather the tv show was canceled and there are no more episodes beyond this. I know there are three movies: Return to Cutter Gap, A Change of seasons, and a new beginning. Which one do I need to see next? Do any of them pick up where the last episode left off? Do the last two movies build off the return to cutter gap or are they different? Thanks!
