Gun control opponents, why do you think more guns will result in less crime if.....?

Why do you think more guns will result in less crime if you consider that we have over 300 million guns, and a population of 311 million (over 96% owns guns already!)?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

You have identified the solution! Not redistribution of wealth.. we need redistribution of guns! There may be 300 million guns here, but most people own more than one.

I ask you how will demonizing or making firearms illegal decrease crime? In China 22 children were slashed to death at a school on the same day as the CT tragedy happened. Today in the US there are more firearms than cars yet the deaths by autos is a hundred times more than the death by firearms. You want to save the world ban autos. I also using your 300 million guns ask you if it is the firearms fault why are there not 300 million gun incidents. A firearm is an inanimate object it does nothing without a person making a conscious decision to use it illegally, blame the person not the object. I also will state the largest mass killing in our history was cause by planes used as weapons on 9/11 where were you crying to ban planes. People make decisions to commit crimes and the tool will just change or be acquired illegally. That is why we call them criminals, they do not follow or care about laws! So why disarm the law abiding and make more easy targets.

You are deceived by your own numbers. Most gun owners own more than one gun so the 96% already own guns is false.

Second...ask your self if any mass shootings have never happened at Gun Shows, where a large population are armed? No. Now ask your self why? Most mass shooting are spectacular suicides. You cannot take 20 or so with you if you will only get 2-3 shots off.

Police stations do not have workplace violence...why ...many guns.

I pose that more guns do prevent gun violence...because the facts back that up.

It's not about more guns in general, it's about more guns in more places. There are too many "gun free zones" which, in mass shooter speak, is "target rich environment" because they don't have to worry about shooting back.

    Think about this:

There were 16 massacres at schools from 1927 to 1989.

In 1990, there was a gun free school zone act passed.

Since then, there have been 106 massacres in schools.

Direct corellation? No. But there's some impact to it.

Gun control won't change a thing. If a nut job wants to get a gun and hurt people, he's going to find a way. After all, we all know how criminals love to follow laws.

I could go on and on all day about how only the criminals would have guns, a world in which only potentially crooked cops had guns would be bad, how the first thing Hitler did was to confiscate all the guns and the second thing he did was to march 8 million people to their unfair and miserable slaughter, but all that is lost on you. So this time, I'll try to appeal to you with a deeply personal story of mine involving firearms.

In 1998, my dad was diagnosed with a brain tumor at 56. He lay on what we thought was his deathbed for a year. He took radiation and chemo, and the seizure medications made him sicker than the cancer.

Well, he kind of turned a corner at some point, and one day, he called me out of the blue and asked if he could borrow my .243. I of course told him he could, and he explained that he had been given an elk permit by an area rancher. The state of New Mexico gives these permits every so often for elk population control; they're eating each other out of house and home.

So, one morning, propped up between my grandpa and my uncle, my gravely ill dad went hunting. I would have been with them, but I was stuck working on a movie crew and couldn't get myself covered. He got his elk, and from there, he made a miraculous recovery. He was reminded of his younger years, of hunting trips with his dad, his brother, his brothers-in-law and his friends. He started remembering what life was like and what it could be again. I am convinced that that hunting trip saved my dad's life. It brought his spirit back, and his will to fight and to live. Today, he's back to building things and being himself. If he has slowed down any compared to what he was before he got sick, it's from age rather than illness. He's now 70.

Out here in the Southwest, we use our guns to hunt, to target plink or to competition shoot. About a tenth of one percent of us would even have it in us to commit a crime that would hurt another human being -- with our without a gun. I grew up in a houseful of guns and I have yet to pick one up in anger or malice.

SO DON'T TELL ME THAT BECAUSE YOU HAVE SOME INSANE IDEA THAT GUNS ARE ONLY USED FOR VIOLENCE, MY GUNS SHOULD BE TAKEN AWAY. You are so gravely clueless about guns that you think your sick ideas should be foisted on the rest of us, and I am so sick to death and tired of it that I just don't know how to combat your ideas any more.

When I was in college, sometimes the only quality time I would have with my dad was when we stole away from all the big hairy bullshit of workday life to go hunting together. We had our quality time then -- we had his teaching/my growing time together then. Without guns, we would have been denied that.

Keep your misguided ideas about crime going away if the guns go away TO YOURSELF, please.

Your percentage is off. Most people who own guns own more than 1.
