Before Stalin was the butcher Lenin. Lenin and his Bolsheviks murdered millions of Russians through starvation because they refused to submit to his control. It was customary for Lenin to order the military into farms of people (even with elderly and children) and steal or destroy their food if they disagreed with his communist policies. Estimates vary between 5 million to 9 million Russians died because of Lenin and the Bolsheviks. Lenin also used stolen food from Russian farmers to feed his military who forced communism on the rest of Russia.

The Soviet Union (which had always included the Ukraine),was a nasty Communist dictatorship well before Stalin and his Collectivization programme.

Lenin and the Cheka saw to that.
