Gymnosperms are seed producing plants that include conifers (pines), cycads, ginkgo and gnetales; it means naked seeds, after the unenclosed condition of their seeds. The seeds form on the surface of scales or leaves (such as cones)
Angiosperms are flowering (or fruited with seeds in the fruit) plants that have seeds enclosed with an ovary (enclosure). They are also known as angiospermae or magnoliophyta and are the most diverse group of land plants.
The gymnosperms and angiosperms together compose the spermatophytes or seed plants.
