Does being armed to the teeth, like gun nuts say really makes us safer?
Every time there is a shooting incident people run to buy more guns. If it was true that it decreases shootings it seems to have the opposite effect.
A lot of big talk about shooting shooters but it never happens. So in that sense we should be the safest country in the world.

This question calls for really objective answers, but I'll offer my opinion. Arming ourselves with guns has more of a negative than positive effect. Even if we intend to use it for self defense, in the situation that a psycho comes to school with a semiautomatic, there would not even be enough time to run back and get our protective guns to use against him. Instead, the guns stack up in houses and become so commonplace that everyone has access. Everyone, as in anyone who has any suicidal or murdurous thought. It's far more dangerous than safe to allow easy access to guns in my opinion.

The phrases "makes us safer" and "decreases shootings" are not equivalent.
Buying firearms legally is a way for honest people to decrease shootings against other honest people.
Criminals buy guns because they are good tools to use to commit crimes involving force (or the threat thereof).
Any teacher with a concealed handgun license should be allowed to carry in school (if they want).
These types of shootings would not happen in those schools.

hey sgt friday. ive been making this point myself. the stats dont bear out increased safety. rep louie gohmert of texas had suggested after aurora that if the people in the movie theater were shot that there would be more safety if they had guns themselves. as a journalist pointed out . do you think lots of people shooting in a dark theater would not result in more people being shot?
i agree that fear drives the gun nuts to buy more . the same way gold prices always go up under dems. i think the only result of this will be an elimination of the background check exemption for gun shows. im not a fan of the gun laws here but we cant throw all gun owners under the bus because we have crazy people. for school situation it makes more sense to build police substatiions closer to the schools to decrease response time. the shooter stopped after hearing the sirens in this case .

So anyone that does not believe as you believe or thinks the Second Amendment actually means civilians are allowed to own guns are gun nuts?
Statistics show that areas that allow their citizens to own guns have a much lower violent crime rate than areas that do not allow gun ownership or restrict gun ownership.
So the number of guns in an area is not indicative of violent crimes.
Exactly what is armed to the teeth?

Clearly arming the population isn't working because gun crime hasn't decreased and massacres keep happening. Obviously though, Americans need to keep their assault weapons for when George III returns to reclaim America as the constitution so accurately predicts!

every school has that no weapons on premises on there doors and signs were busses drop of at school seems they havent worked why not put armed gaurds at school to make them safer the government insists schools are safe well we have had 4 just in this presidency so there obviously smokin some good ****

You have a misconception concerning why people buy guns under those circumstances. They want to obtain them before the government bans them. That fear is ridiculous because you can just go to Mexico where our government hands them out.

Can't speak for others, but my personally owned firearms makes me safer. If you don't believe that, come on over to my house and try breaking in ....
That said, just how in christ's name is this a military theme question?
