It's just a commercial. I don't know what other households are like, but since I can function on minimal sleep a lot better than my wife can, I tend to get up at night when the kids need anything more often than she does.

But I don't feel offended that the commercial's producers chose to depict a family in which the mother wakes up to take care of a sick child. It's about who they're trying to appeal to and they must know that mothers are more likely to be the one purchasing the product so that's who's featured in the commercial. Advertising is a science, and nothing is randomly selected when it comes to marketing.

I might say yes, but I remember when I was a child. There was something about my mom administering my medicine that gave me a reassurance and safe feeling that I didn't feel when it was dad who got up to give me my medicine. Nothing against my dad; he always tried to help when he could, but moms have a way of being more therapeutic and comforting than fathers when a child is ill (IMHO)

I agree its old fashion. I was lucky enough to have two parents who were nurturing and caring and still are. Its not about the sex of the parent its their genetic make up and personality. There are many women (moms) who are not that nurturing and the dads are nurturing. Also, how they were raised by their parents. The old fashion way is that mommy is to take care of their sick kids. In reality, it could be the other way around or both. The commercial is not sexist its conforming to overall societies beliefs and the best way to sell their product. However, there are many women and men whom are.

Usually it is the mom. And the mom is also the person most likely to purchase cold remedies. So that's why they put the mom in the commercial like that.

Oh God! I don't think do :) a moms job is to care for her family's health. There's nothing wrong in that. Even my dad is like that:p

Nope. Is it racist because they didn't make different commercials with different races in it?

See how this can get out of control and silly quickly?

Not sexist, just old fashioned. The commercial reminds the world of how family dynamic is suppose to work. Daddy is out working his tail off and mommy nurtures the babies. Besides, what little kid doesn't prefer mommy when they are not feeling well?

No, because it is true. If your mom you know. Dad's usually I pay the bills, that's enough. Well women yet to have kids. Your man will be this way. Every blue moon you will get a dad that does both. But I think in time it's always the mom. That's why kids love us, an respect them.

No. It doesn't take two parents to administer cough syrup.
