how is 3050.00 -1764.25=1285.75 it didn't make since to me doing it on paper?

That's the correct answer. Why doesn't it make since? What probably throws you off when looking is that the "64" and "85" don't add up to get a "50." But, remember that you're subtracting a quarter of a whole, thus decreasing the ones place by 1 (since you have to borrow). If you'd like to edit your question to be more specific, I'd love to give you a more specific answer!
