why do so many people not like brittanys (dog)?
Why do so many people think brittanys are crazy, hyper dogs and don't like them?
I have a brittany mix, and while he does have a lot of energy, that is the basics of what the breed is. He is very smart and very friendly, and once some of his energy is used up, he is very responsive. He doesn't mind cuddling on the couch or sitting down and playing with his toys after a long walk.
I realize that some dogs may be different, but for the most part, my brittany mix seems to be a very well rounded, smart, friendly dog who just has a lot of energy. And he is one and a half years old, not very old so it isn't like it took him forever to be like this. Also, this is the most well behaved dog I have ever seen when it comes to the problems of biting people and chewing on non-dog toy items, though this could be due to some of his previous training before i adopted him.
But anyways, you would think that people would read about a brittany first before saying that it is crazy. It is clear that brittanys have very much energy, but that is part of the breed. But why do people say these dogs are terrible/crazy/wild/hyper/ or bad dogs when, if given the proper needs, the dog seems to behave wonderfully? What is your experience with this breed?

I would never own a Brittney Spaniel but I don't hate the breed. My dog actually likes to play with a Brittney at the dog park. I find the fact that they're hyper and crazy most of the time to be a turn off. I think even the most well behaved dog can by super energetic and crazy. I don't think it means the dog is bad - it's just way too energetic for me.
Like I said my GSD plays with a Brittney at the dog park. This dog is like a psycho. It runs like mad at top speed the whole time its there. It seems like there is no off switch. I've only ever met this one but holly cow I couldn't live with a dog like that.
It's the same thing with other breeds though. I like Labs - they're very friendly and can be very well behaved - but I would never own one. It just comes down to preference and training. I own a long coated German Shepherd. Before her I had Great Pyrenees. Some people would never own these types of dogs. I've met more than a few people who stare at Memphis (my GSD) and quickly walk away or give us more than enough space. People are scared of her. The breed had a stereotype of being aggressive and mean. Is she? No, she love people. But again, why do so many people not like German Shepherds?
It comes down to the person. Everyone has their own preference and beliefs. :]

Every one has their own opinion on what they like, I`m a Pomeranian person, but I like other Breeds as well. Many people think that Pomeranians are snappy, yappy, and hyper. Only one of my Poms is yappy, but he isn`t snappy or hyper, my other Pomeranian is hyper and a bit snappy but isn`t yappy. I think it depends on who you are talking to and what experiences they had with that kind of Dog.
