  • Four years together and its still long distance....?

My boyfriend and I have been in an off and on long distance relationship for 4 years. Off and on meaning that we had some spurts where we were living closer to each other, but mostly long distance. He, for a time, was working at a sales job about 2 hours away, and for that year we would see each other about every other weekend. Then, he moved back to our hometown, and started going to a community college again, and I was still completing my college, and this was the same, about 2 hours away. Then I graduated college, and moved back to our hometown, and lived with my parents for about a year. In this time, we saw each other about every day. Then, I moved away again for grad school, about 2 hours away, while he is staying up in his hometown, and we see each other about every weekend. But the long distance thing is starting to take a toll on me.

I've talked to him about it, and he says that we will be able to live together once he graduates school in two years or so, but he has been doing terrible in school. He now has finally found a psychologist who is helping him learn the skills he needs to succeed in school, but he is taking a semester off until he learns these skills. So again, this means of course that he is pushing that goal of living together/getting married further away.

Between conflicts with work and school schedules, and lack of money, we can't seem to make it work where we see each other enough, and when we do, one of us has to go to work, so even if he comes down to see me, or I see him, we are waiting until the other gets off work. Consequently we still really aren't seeing each other much.

Before, I would be able to deal with the ldr because of course when we did see each other it would be worth it, but we have been doing this for four years... I am so sick of the long distance. Help

  • why do so many people not like brittanys (dog)?

Why do so many people think brittanys are crazy, hyper dogs and don't like them?

I have a brittany mix, and while he does have a lot of energy, that is the basics of what the breed is. He is very smart and very friendly, and once some of his energy is used up, he is very responsive. He doesn't mind cuddling on the couch or sitting down and playing with his toys after a long walk.

I realize that some dogs may be different, but for the most part, my brittany mix seems to be a very well rounded, smart, friendly dog who just has a lot of energy. And he is one and a half years old, not very old so it isn't like it took him forever to be like this. Also, this is the most well behaved dog I have ever seen when it comes to the problems of biting people and chewing on non-dog toy items, though this could be due to some of his previous training before i adopted him.

But anyways, you would think that people would read about a brittany first before saying that it is crazy. It is clear that brittanys have very much energy, but that is part of the breed. But why do people say these dogs are terrible/crazy/wild/hyper/ or bad dogs when, if given the proper needs, the dog seems to behave wonderfully? What is your experience with this breed?

  • For fun, what breed of dog do you think my brittany mix is mixed with?

So I just adopted a dog about a month or so ago. I don't really care what sort of dog he is exactly, but it is fun to guess what he may be mixed with. I want to see what you guys think!

Here are the things I am for sure about him:

    He is definitely mostly brittany.

He is about 1 and a half years old.

The papers from the spca say he is a hound mix, and i definitely think there is a lot of hound in him.

He is very smart. Picks up on a lot, but gets very distracted. May be just his personality.

He is very fast and loves to run. Probably the brittany in him but possibly something else.

He is 17 inches in height and weighs about 35-40 pounds.

He loves trying to chases small animals, squirrels included.

    Here is his pictures!

  • What is the best approach to have my dog "meet" my friends' dog?

I recently adopted a very friendly brittany hound mix named Hopps. He is pretty friendly around other dogs, so I thought it would be a good idea for him to meet my friend's dog, Nelly. Well Nelly is a very friendly dog, but apparently isn't as friendly with unfamiliar dogs that are her size or larger, and Hopps is definitely her size. The first time they met, Hopps happily approached Nelly, but instead of returning the same greating, Nelly barked and snapped at him aggressively. Now my friend has two other small dogs who behaved rather well towards Hopps, but Nelly continued to snap at him.

I truly think Nelly just didn't get the chance to meet Hopps, and once they get to know each other they will be good friends. However, how should we approach the situation again, to make it the safest and best possible chance for the two dogs to be friends?

  • Is it play or aggression ,or a little of both?

I just adopted my brittany hound mix, named Hopps. Well he loves playing and loves the dog park, so naturally we spend a lot of time there. Often times I wonder whether he is playing or if he is instigating the other dogs too much.

Heres some of his background info that may or may not have anything to do with his behavior. When he was in the pound, he was in a kennel with a lot of other dogs and often didn't really get much of the food (he was the more submissive one, lower in the order). Well then his previous owner adopted him, and he was used to playing with two other dogs, a pitbull and a very dominant female pomeranian mix.

Now Hopps is really friendly to people and even the other dogs. He is always wagging his tail, and he runs up and "plays" or wrestles or whatever dogs do. However, whenever we are at the dog park, Hopps is always the dog "playing" all the time and chasing the other dogs, and he gets real grumpy when the other dogs seem to need to catch their breath (I dont know how he doesnt need to catch HIS breath!) but he barks at them and growls until they "play" again, all the time wagging his tail. Sometimes, though, it seems he gangs up on some dogs and chases them when they don't seem to want to play (their tails are tucked, ears back, and running trying to hide). Of course when these dogs run, it just eggs Hopps on to chase more! A handful of times I have grabbed Hopps and made him sit and "chill" for a few so that he sort of stops and gives these dogs a break!

I love that Hopps is playing and getting his energy out and socializing with the other dogs, and he really does seem like he is just trying to play, but I dont want to have the most aggressive or most instigating dog at the dog park either. A few times I have gotten looks from the other dog owners, though these owners were the owners that had dogs that Hopps wasnt even playing with! Hopps is not even 2, so part of him is still very much a lot of puppy, but I guess I am having a hard time deciding when it is too much.

I am so used to taking my family's 4 year old labrador retriever to

the dog park, and that dog is sort of opposite of Hopps! Jack, the lab, is much quieter, and would rather smell butts than wrestle!

Am I overthinking it, or are there some things that I can watch out for?

  • Bringing my dog with me to do apartment searching?

I just adopted a dog, but I can't keep him with me until I move into my apartment, so his previous owner agreed to watch him until then. Well I am apartment searching tomorrow, and I thought it would be best to bring him with me so that the landlords can see just how well-behaved he is (the dog and I have already met and I know how well trained he is). All the places allow pets that I am visiting, but I think it would be a good idea to meet these possibly potential landlords on good terms before I sign anything. Plus this will give me more of an opportunity to bond with my dog before I bring him home for good. The previous owner thinks this is great, but the only thing is, the place I am moving is an hour and a half away. Now, prev owner says the dog is great in the car. I bought a doggie seat belt, leash, collar, and i have plenty of towels down on the back seat. I also have plenty of water bottles. Is there anything else I am missing? Any other tips?

  • Should I work part-time or do graduate assistantship?

I just got accepted to grad school! However, I will be getting an apartment and be moving to a different town. I can easily transfer my full time job i currently work to the new city though it would become a part time job while im in school full time (work as pharm tech at kroger pharmacy). I make about $9.70/hr, and could work about 20-25 hr/wk max. But I would have more flexibility in the hours. Or I could apply/do a graduate assistantship which is a max of 20hrs/wk and is a certain stipend(not exactly sure of the amount but an amount). However this stipend would only be going to my school fees and the hours are set. I would want to do a research assistantship because i do not want to teach. What should i do?

  • Pharmacy Technicians! Poll: would you rather work at a pharmacy that has a walk-up window or a drive-thru?

I work at kroger pharmacy which currently has a drive-thru and is open 24 hours. however, i am looking to transfer because i just got accepted to grad school. there are 2 krogers in the city where my grad school is. One has a rx walk-up and one has a rx drive-thru (one lane). both are not 24 hour stores, and are close to school and my apartment. If everything else is equal, which one would you choose and why?

  • Just got accepted to grad school! But wondering why the questions about race?

I just got accepted to grad school for environmental science masters program! I am so excited! But the school, although a great school and known for their environmental science program, is a historically black university, Kentucky State University. So after the "congrats" I get the, "won't it be weird to be white going to a black school?" questions. Why?! Are people still really that racist? Why does it matter? I even get that question from white people as well as black people. I guess I really don't care about race, but I mean I really didn't think of it at all, until people asked me that... And all I can think of is why?

  • In Kentucky, If I have a concealed carry license but in friend's car...?

If I have a concealed carry license and a concealed weapon on my person and I am a passenger in my friend's car and she doesnt have a concealed carry license... if she got pulled over by a cop, would she be in trouble (since there is a concealed weapon in the car, even though it is technically on my person and I have the license)?

  • should i ask for an epipen rx?

I never thought about having an epipen for myself. I am allergic to penicillin, but I guess I always thought that as long as I dont take it then I am fine! But... I work as a pharm tech at kroger, and from a weird accident, accidentally inhaled some of the powder from the amoxicillin suspension. I immediately got a horrible allergic reaction complete with anaphylaxis. I've worked as a tech for 10 mo+, and this is the first time I got a reaction, and my second allergic reaction in my entire life. I am not allergic to anything else. I want to keep being a pharm tech while going through grad school. Should I get an epipen prescription from my doctor, or is this just a bizarre coincedence?

  • One of my babies is bigger than the other (turtles)?

I have two red eared slider turtles. They have both grown about .5-.9 inches since i got them about a week and a half ago (so one is 1.5in, the other is 1.9in). I have a 20 gal tank set at 75-80 degrees, a basking dock with uvb light, the temp set at 90 degrees. I have a cuttlebone in the tank as well. There are real plants in the water for them and they eat that (as evident by the mess on the filters!) as well as I feed them every day at seperate times (one in the "food tank" for 15 min, then the other) a chicken liver/carrot/green veg combo. This is mostly so that i know both are eating, and to prevent any sort of aggression/dominance issues. However, one of the turtles is considerably bigger (you can tell) than the other, and they were both about the same size when i got them. Both turtles seem to be healthy, but is it normal that one is a lot bigger than the other one in just a week and a half?

  • Red eared slider question?

I have 2 baby red eared sliders in my 20 gal aquarium (yes i know i will have to get a bigger one, but for now it is great). The tank is set up with the water at 76-80 degrees, and the basking area at 90 degrees. There is a big basking rock, and many edible water plants in the tank. One of the turtles, Michaelangelo, seemed more shy than Raphael. He would hide under the basking rock more and would be more skittish if he saw me in the room. But now its switched. Raphael is now spending a lot of time hiding while Michaelangelo is exploring. I'm thrilled Michaelangelo is more comfortable with the tank, but is there now something wrong with Raphael?

  • How can I get my boyfriend to lose some weight and get more fit?

I love my boyfriend so much, we have been dating for 3 years now and we are serious about each other. I love him no matter what. But over the past couple of years he has gained some weight. He is sort of short stature anyway, so his height makes him look probably like he is bigger around (in the tummy area) than it would on a taller guy. I love him and still find him attractive, but I will be honest, I miss the way he looked when we first met and he was much more in shape. It isn't really a big dealbreaker or anything, but it would be great if he could lose some of that weight and just be more fit. He has even said how he wishes he could lose the weight and be like he was 2 years ago. He has given up soda and caffeine which has brought down his weight some, and he does do a fencing class every monday night.

I dont want to pressure him about it because I know by the end of the day he is just worn out from going to college full time and working part time as a stocker at krogers. Ive tried to motivate him by asking if he wanted to go out and ride bikes, take a walk, run, or whatever but most of the time he is just too tired. He is trying to eat healthier, but I think he must exercise too... I mean he is 23 and i just think he should get into shape and in a healthy lifestyle now before it all catches up later.

  • I.m a girl but is it weird to ask...?

Ha so I told my boyfriend that after an engagement ring he doesnt have to buy me any more jewelry! So I just bought myself a brand new diamond razor edge bow and my bday is sept 2. Is it weird to ask him to get me either some carbon arrows or a nice release for the bow rather than jewelry or some other more girly stuff? He is much more of a city boy, but I'm such a country tomboy girl lol. Is that ok to know what you want and ask for it, or will he feel awkward getting more "boyish" stuff for his girlfriend?

  • The MOH is ruining everything... how do I get her not to ruin the bachelorette party?

One of my really good friends is getting married. She picked one of our other friends as the maid of honor, but asked me to plan her bachelorette party. The MOH, Heather, is now furious about this decision, and keeps making up reasons that she should be allowed to plan it. However the bride, Ashley, has appointed me to plan it after realizing that Heather wouldn't make the party as fun. (I am more of the wild one in our group. Heather didn't even want to plan anything like going to a club because she is really kind of prudish). Before any of this, Heather and I were good friends. But now, Heather is jealous I guess and is trying to sabatoge our (heather and mine's) friendship by making up stuff and complaining to Ashley. Now Ashley told me about this excessive complaints in private, but how do I make sure that Heather doesnt ruin the actual bachelorette party? I thought about talking to Heather before the party begins, but I really don't want to sound like a ***** since she is using anything I do or say as an insult and personal attack on her though I really havent said much to her at all. Help!

  • why does my ex still have this on his facebook?

My ex raped me three years ago. Ever since I sent him an email basically saying all of what he did to me and that i knew what he did was wrong, he has stopped contacting me (which is awesome.) I dont want anything to do with him and wish he would disappear from the earth. But on his facebook (no we are NOT friends on there), he still has poems that he wrote to me when we were together, and he has quotes about me. I have asked him to take the poems down (before he stopped talking to me) and he said they were his and i had no right to ask him to take them down. Why does he still have these on his facebook after the fact that he knows I know he is a rapist and it has been 3 years since we were together?

  • How can I be more romantic? (I'm a girl)?

I love my boyfriend dearly, and we have been tg for almost 3 years. Through that time he has had to put up with a lot of my mental ****, mostly just my anxiety and getting over being raped by my ex. So sometimes, even though obviously I try to be thankful and appreciative, I feel like he puts up with more than he should. I mean I don't try to be difficult, but no one should have to pick up the pieces after their girlfriend was raped by her ex. I try to show him how appreciative I am, but sometimes I feel guilty. I want to show him appreciation in a better way. How do I do that?

And don't say oh just be sexual, or something cuz we do that already lol.

  • Should we take our snake to the vet?

My boyfriend's and my pet milk snake escaped about 5 days ago. Fortunately last night we found her, and she appears to be doing fine. However, should we take her to the vet, as a precaution, or am I just being overprotective?
