Question about my babys food.?
I was wondering how long inbetween each kind of food i feed him should i wait before i try a new kind of food. He's drinking a lot and is still not full he is 4 months old. How do you know if they have an allergy to the food? Yes I know they say not go give you baby food tell around 6 months but sometimes you have to. Its been 14 yrs between my two kids.

My sons doctor (he is also 4 months) told me that its rare for babies to have an allergic reaction to stage one baby foods. But just in case watch out for rash, excessive vomiting (not spit up, actual vomit) and excessive diarrhea, swelling of the lips or tongue. They say wait 3 days. I usually wait 2 days. My son has had green beans, peas, carrots, sweet potatoes, squash and just tried pears today. I only waited 2 days between each. He loves them all. Good luck. Hope this helps

You can give food between 4 and 6 months, whenever he seems ready for it. You should wait 3 to 5 days between new foods. Keep an eye out for rashes or hives or anything like that which would show there could be a food allergy.

You can tell when your baby is ready for food because they start trying to get at the food you are eating. Their tongue thrust reflex will also need to have gone otherwise they will just push the food straight back out of their mouth, likely irritating you and upsetting them. This can happen at around 4 months, but usually takes a bit longer.
You do not need to feed your child mush, puree or any crap out of a jar. Feed them what you are eating. You do not need to follow bizarre guidelines about what/when to introduce food (with some clear exceptions, like nuts, eggs and honey) and how long to wait. Give 'em a bit of steamed veg with dinner, although you should probably wait a bit longer than 4 months.
People only started feeding their baby's puree because they started trying to wean them before they could sit up properly and eat for themselves, and before the tongue thrust reflex had gone. Consequently the food needed to be of a form that could be shoved down a helpless infants mouth. It's entirely unnecessary if you just wait long enough.
In the interim, just feed them more breast milk/formula. You can't really overfeed a baby - they'll just throw it up anyway if you try.

AAP keeps going back and forth between 6 mos and 4-6 mos depending on readiness.
Some say wait 3 days. But honestly if they were going to have an allergic reaction they would have it that same day.
Don't do cereal. Just go straight for jars.

U are supposed to give them the same kind of food for 3 days. Watch for rashes, hives, swelling, changing in breathing, etc to know if they're allergic
