Getting the implant, making appointments?

The missus wants to get the implant; however, neither of us are sure as to whether we can just walk in, and get it done, or make an appointment, then get it done, or even have to make an appointment to talk about it, then make another one to get it done, can anyone please advise?

I just walked into a clinic and got there and then. I know some clinics will give you an appointment if they don't have any nurses available. its all confidential and free so you got nothing to worry about the nurse explains everything before she puts it in and you can opt to have it out almost straight away if you don't like (some people get side effects), i just went to my local family planning clinic it was easy peasy. I think your GP can also do it if you'd rather make an appointment with them.

What kind of implant. A cochlear implant? That is a little disappointing because I was quite excited for a moment.
