Computer: Microsoft Windows Q:?

When in logging off mode, my computer always insists on an update task which states:

"Updating one of one" which stalls the shut-down program. This is obviously a malfunction, but how do I over-ride this annoying fault?

Update:

Thanks to the "below" posters.

The machine is not freezing at all, it is strange in that if it is functioning on battery alone it will shut down normally. But if the battery charger is coupled in, it shuts down in stages which includes "updating one of one", which is the annoyance.

Another interesting characteristic of this flaw is that normal updates take place in the "start-up" phase! This fault occurs at the other end of the log on period.

Well my first question is does it install properly. Are you shutting the computer down before it is done installing the update or is just freezing. Those updates are sometimes annoying and can take a long time to process. I think the only way to make it stop if your worried about it is re installing windows.

it is not a fault. have patience, and allow your os to finish its proper updates....for example let it go overnight, and if it still doesnt finish, then pop in you install and repair cd.
