Most people prefer "happy holidays" nowadays to avoid being "offensive" to people who don't celebrate a certain holiday. Some places even get sued if they put up a Christmas tree. It's not just Kwanzaa, but almost every holiday people get worked up about. It's rather stupid and silly.
Also, people don't like it because it's "new," and therefore not a "real holiday." I personally believe that's all wrong, and that the true formula of a true holiday is that it makes people happy, and often brings people together for one reason or another.
And people saying it's "made up." But, when you get right down to it, ALL holidays are made up! So people saying that is just a silly reason to hate it.
Plus, racism and prejudice is all too prevalent nowadays in many cultures. But people are probably always going to hate others for silly reasons, like color of skin, when they should simply judge by the actions of one's heart.
I don't know why people hate Kwanzaa myself, but I think it's stupid to hate a holiday. But, maybe someday humanity will have improved enough to realize that and get over their assumptions about someone because their skin is darker, or because they're from a different side of the ocean.

Racism & Prejudice.
Kwanzaa is different, uncharted territory. People are scared of different. Just watch Breaking Dawn 2, you'll get what i mean (:

It's not a real holiday. Happy Holidays refers to Christmas and Hanukkah. No one cares about kwanza, it has 0 historical significance.
