How can I control cigarette smoke coming into my apartment?
I live above a person who smokes constantly. Also, he has frequent visitors that smoke. I am home all the time because I'm retired. So, I'm exposed to secondhand smoke all the time. It's worse now that I've closed windows for the winter and his heat is lifting the smoke into my bathroom and kitchen. I called the office of my apartment complex and asked if maintenance could do something to stop it.
So far, they've talked to him and since told me that he says he doesn't smoke in his bathroom anymore and shuts that door and that maintenance is too busy to do anything right now.
I need some ideas. I taste the smoke when I walk into my kitchen and bathroom. It's obviously coming up through the the gaps around my drains, his w/d hookup area and his light fixtures.
I have no idea when maintenance will have time to get to my problem because it's not a priority.
Any ideas? I can't afford to move, plus my lease runs through next July. Thank you.

I would suggest an air filter, or if all else fails, I would use duct tape to patch these gaps the smoke is permeating through to find its way into your apartment.
