difference between a xbox points card and an xbox gold card?

Ok on Amazon they have (online code cards) for sale , some are just Xbox 360 live Microsoft points cards, some say gold membership and actually have a picture of a gold card, some cards are all green but title says it's a gold membership card. What is the difference between just MS points and a gold subscription? And are the green ones GOLD too? I mainly for now want to access Hulu Plus, so I need the right card. thanks.

Update:

PS: also I bought my XBOX 360 new with connect last year, I am assuming it is the SLIM. so does this mean it is wireless and i don't need the wireless adapter to connect?

Microsoft points are used to purchase things from the marketplace like Downloadable Add-ons for your games, full games from the Arcade, items for your Avatar etc

Xbox Live Gold is the membership which allows you to play the multiplayer on all games, it opens up many more features and is basically vital if you want to get the most out of your Xbox. I'm not 100% sure whether or not you need Gold to access Hulu, Microsoft have made a lot of things accessible to members who do not have a Gold subscription and that does include streaming movies and videos to some greater or lesser degree, but I've always had Gold so I have no experience of using a free account. I'd just buy a Gold subscription, you might as well as they are very cheap for 12 months worth.

Here is an image of the two Xbox versions - http://goo.gl/FsDzv

The one on the left is the original Xbox 360 and will require you to buy a Wireless Network Adaptor or to connect directly to your Router via Ethernet Cable to connect to the Internet. The one on the right is the new Xbox Slim console and has a Wireless Network Adaptor built in so no need to purchase one seperately.

Yes there is a difference. A Xbox LIVE Gold Membership card gives you a specified amount of time as a premium or gold member, lets say you bought a 12 month card. You would be a gold member for the next 12 months. Now a Microsoft points card gives you a specified amount of points that you can redeem to buy/rent movies, TV shows, DLC (Down Loadable Content) and to change your gamertag. Lets say you buy a 1600 Microsoft point card and you change your gamertage for 800 points, that would leave you with 800 points left. So there is a very big difference between Microsoft point cards and Xbox LIVE Gold membership cards, hope this helped!

Point cards go to an Xbox form of currency, used to buy games and extras. Membership cards give you more time on Xbox Live. It's the difference between a dollar bill and a day.

MS points are used to purchase movies, games, DLC. Gold membership is the paid subscription for xbox live that allows you to play online and access all the features of your xbox. You need Xbox live to use your MS points.

The Gold is Xbox Live, which allows you to play multiplayer, stream Hulu Plus etc. Points are what you use to buy games and expansion packs. Get the gold one!
