Air intakes: which brand should I get?

I got a 2002 celica, and want to put an intake on it after the holidays. But i dont know what brand i should get...

K&N, AEM, or Injen?

I just want one for better performance a couple more MPGs on the interstate.

Thanks

Spectre has really good intakes that does the same damn thing as K&N and Airaid, but it's much more affordable.

the k and n FIPK (fuel injection performance kit) is great.

mine made a huge difference in perfomance because my factory intake was pretty much an S shape, the FIPK turned it into a straight line.

Dont listen to anyone that talks S*** about intakes theyre a bunch of haters. I saw results, not huge results but it made a difference. if you add other parts like a intake manifold spacer, throttle body spacers, super chip, and high flow exhaust then youll really be impressed.

flags reasoning is somewhat false. Fuel injection uses much more than the oxygen sensors to determine fuel ratio. the MAF sensor and camshaft/crankshaft position sensors also play a huge role. A cold air intake WILL NOT decrease your intake temperature enough to affect engine warm up (really dude?) and the average vehicle engineers arent looking into giving you the best bang for your buck on the intakes the make, theyre trying to make the most cost effective part they can.

smart dude are you going off of experience? so youve actually added a magnaflow catback and not been satisfied or are you just talking out of your ***.

I added a bunch of aftermarket parts to my 2010 frontier increase low end torque so I can tow easier....a 2002 celica might not be worth the 300 plus dollar part.

You can get an imperceptible gain in power at the high end of the rpm range and will see exactly 0.000000% change in interstate fuel economy. There is a very basic reason for that - intake restriction in modern fuel injected engines has no effect on mixture. In the days of carburetors restrictive filters acted like chokes and increased the amount of fuel carbureted. Electronic fuel injection uses oxygen sensors to adjust the mixture and cancel out that effect. Believe me, there is so much money involved in CAFE (the company's average fuel economy number) that if a change in the air filter would have produced any improvement in economy they would have done it already. An aftermarket intake in that price range will reduce your fuel economy for short trips, like trips to the store, because they lack the engine preheat that speeds up engine warm-up. Cold engines consume roughly twice the gas of the same engines when up to operating temperature so the longer warm-up costs you gas. That is worse in winter, not so bad in summer. Decreased fuel economy is the most common complaint for all low-end aftermarket intakes.

The cold air intake that came on the car is the best you can buy below the $1000 range.

None of the above, you're wasting your money. CAIs add maybe 2hp near redline, and give no fuel economy improvement. Unless you replace the entire intake manifold, port the heads, CNC the combustion chambers, add a high flowing exhaust (cat backs don't count), and build the LRA, there is no need for an intake, and you will see no gains over stock. Spend your money on a good tuner if you want better fuel economy and power.

=== K&N has long bveen recognized as the leader in the filter and intake biz .. good choice ....
