Is LG a decent television brand?

It all depends on who's opinion you look at. Consumer Reports lists LG as one of the top 3 manufacturers for TV's for the last several years (along with Panasonic and Samsung). Other sources may not give it that high of a mark...but LG is generally considered to be a "better than average" brand.

It really gets down to individual models as to whether or not a particular TV at a particular price is good. As with anything...there are top of a series and entry level to a series. The top-end will have far more features, controls, settings, etc that can dramatically enhance a particular models appeal. Given the sub-$600 price of the one your looking at...I'm guessing it's either a lower end of the series or one of last years models. Either way - if it has the other features you want...and it also has 3D...then it's a nice feature to have.

Like the other answerer mentioned...there is limited 3D content as of right this moment...but I would not let that factor in to the decision. LG Cinema 3D TV's usually have 2d to 3d conversion...so you can fake-3D anything on your TV. As with most tech...eventually - 3D will either become the standard (and everything will have a 3D version) or it will become obsolete (and you will have a feature that is a cool gimmick to show your friends). It really doesn't matter though...since 99.9% of your time i front of the TV will be in 2D. As long as the other features you want are there....and its the right price...go for it.
