iPad 2 screen cracked, top half of screen no longer works. What can be done? Can it be fixed?

My iPad 2 screen was cracked today, the top left corner. So half the screen no longer works, it is possible to get around, by using the switch to flip the screen. I'm just wondering if it is possible to get fixed, and if so how much would it cost.

Update:

The screen is still viewable, but you just cant click on it. So I can see the website, but I can't click any links for example.

Thanks!

the Video chip still seems to be working the pressure sensor may be broken though (but that's a property of the screen), so you just need to replace the screen, fiddly job but doable, lots of guides on line... google.

Yes. The first iPad 2 I ever had in my hands I was asked

    to replace the screen.

I replaced the screen on the iPad 2. But I don't think I

would replace another one. It worked fine. The person got

it off of e-bay for 30 bucks. The lady was one of my customers.

So good luck. There is no telling how much a computer shop

would charge. Believe me it is a task to replace that screen.

I called a couple of computer shops and they refused to do it.

Try icracked.com. You will need to enter your name, phone #, and zip code. Once that info is submitted, you will then choose your item (iPad 2 in your case) and the problem. It will then show you the techs close to your area and they will call you. You can get prices for DIY kits or a tech will actually come to you to repair your iPad. I know a couple of people that have used their service and was especially pleased. They also stated it was very reasonably priced. I hope this info will be of use to you. At least check it out and let a tech call you and give you a possible work around until you can get it fixed. The people that I know that used their service stated a tech called within 5 minutes once they submitted their phone #. Good luck and Happy Holidays to you!

Edit: I'm so sorry. I didn't realize this question was from UK. I don't believe this particular company is available there. My apologies.

To fight moths, you need two things, a BIG LIGHT (flaming torches are best, because if they get too close, they are engulfed in flames). A box of month balls, to put then in a slumber so deep that even the snores of cave otters, can not wake them. These two weapons reduce Moth battles to a few hours vs several days, unless of course the flaming moth sets fire to your ship, then you will have OTHER problems besides the water pandas, which would be dragon newts and devils salamanders , who will be attracted by the flames of your boat. And due to it being sealed with pitch, it will be a glorious flame!!! But hey you will be warm before you die screaming. As for the iPad, take it to an Apple store and they will tell you what it will cost to repair it. OR find a local cell phone or laptop repair shop that works on Apple products and see if they have a better (lower) price on cracked screen repairs. Oh and I would not be so keen on proclaiming victory over a moth after 7 days and night, (unless it was a battle Moth from Hades, those buzzards are tough!) As for the sex thing with a "moth slaying Viking", nope never crossed my mind. Now having my way with one of those monster battle moths of Hades, yes I think about those sexy demons often, as only a true man could best one of them and live to tell the tale. Additional Details: Only the moths are flame proof, not the powder that coats their wings from sleeping in the mines of cottony cave otters (their fave food), which BTW are highly flammable.

Send a letter to apple (maybe with or without your device.) most companies offer to fix issues for certain charges. A scratch may be cheap but I know that my sisters old 4G iPod that filled with water cost £70 to save. This sounds like they'd have to remove the screen and fix the tech inside (I won't go into detail here) but I assume they'd have to replace the whole screen. So I conclude there will probably be a fair sum to pay or they tell you it's cheaper to buy a new one.

If it is just the glass which is cracked it can be fixed. You can buy a new screen on eBay for around £25 but need the skills to put it on yourself. It has to come with a wire, wiring kit and a special kind of glue. If you look it up on youtube how t fit a new screen you may be able to pick it up, but if you carnt do t yourself your looking at around £200 in the shops for them to do it.

Most computer repair shops will be able to replace the screen.

The screen will cost around £40 and expect to pay around £50 to have someone fit it for you.

    Or there are specialist companies...
