No, it should not be taken literally. The Bible is a collection of several interpretations from different perspectives. Each of the books were accounts that were said to have taken place at different times but were all centered around how the Earth and man came to be and the life of God's only son he sent to this world. The Bible was not literally written by God, but by those who chose to believe in the stories they wrote as historical accounts. This was during a time when there was no scientific reasoning for any of the "miracles" which were written about. The only explanation that could be given is that they were God-sent miracles. Most of the so-called "miracles" have now been proved to have scientific reasoning. Although, I was raised a Baptist, I now am Agnostic, but can appreciate most of the historical accounts of the Bible which really did happen (just short of the "micacles"). I believe there was a Great Flood and a Noah. I believe there was a Mary, a Joseph, and a Jesus in Bethlehem, but the virgin portion (I doubt very seriously). Visions of angels and turning water to wine, pillars of salt, rods to asps, all have scientific reasoning other than "miracles". So, even though I have changed my viewpoint on the Bible from what I learned during all those Sunday mornings spent in Sunday School and Church, I can still appreciate its historical aspect and the influence it has had on the population of the centuries. But, no, I don't take the Bible literally at all.

CD, It 'is' the literal word of God. [2nd Timothy 3:16-17] BUT, where things go astray is the {interpretation}that sometimes misses the point of the scripture story be unfolded. Best to look at the Bible as to what is the message it's trying to convey to it's readers and that is the coming of the Christ and the Gospel message of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. Ephesian 2:8 " It is by grace that you have been saved and this not from yourselves it is a gift of God." Remember "to keep the main thing the main thing, the coming of Jesus. Merry Christmas.

Source(s): The Holy Bible, is the authority of the faith. "For he who calls on the name of the Lord, will be saved." [Romans10:13]

between the main undemanding regulations of Bible interpretation is to examine Scripture actually if available and don't overspiritualize each and every thing. maximum passages propose what they are asserting and say what they propose. evaluate the literal meaning first earlier searching for a hidden meaning. "concept: If the easy experience of the Scripture you're analyzing makes stable experience, then do no longer seek for to make another experience out of it or the perfect interpretation would desire to be finished nonsense and fully unrelated to God's proceeding meaning. Take each and every word in its extensive-unfold, effortless, everyday, literal meaning except the data of the prompt context, studied interior the mild of correct passages and self-obvious and standard truths, point out needless to say in any different case." The temptation sometimes is to define figurative as "what i do no longer prefer to have self assurance actually." particularly, we would desire to constantly take the Bible actually different than the place the context itself exhibits the word or fact would desire to be taken figuratively. it may do this, as an occasion, via the form of writing it truly is (a poem, song, or apocalyptic prophecy is plenty extra probably to apply symbolic or figurative language than a background or letter). non secular realities (such because of fact the character of God, the effects of God's artwork in human lives) are probably to be defined in figurative language. A key element to fulfillment in religious study is pondering each and every thing the Bible has to declare on a particular project. this is optimal carried out via topical examine.

Absolutely not!!! Simply google "Bible contradictions". Noah's Ark is an impossibility. The bible was made up by men claiming to speak for god.

You are talking about which Bible? There are varieties of Bibles. Old & New Testaments. Where is the Old Testament? It is Hidden. Because, it is the Original, revealed from the Only One God Allah (Who Created you, me and whole universe) to Prophet Jesus (Peace be upon Him). The New Testaments were written by 40 persons, in different times with Contradictions, Vulgar Words, Changes and Inserted New Versions. How can a person believe it as it is from God?

Why there is "NO" only one Bible, like only one Holy Quran?

The Holy Quran was Revealed from God Allah [Who Created you, me and whole universe] to Prophet Mohammed (Peace be upon Him) by VOICE, through Angel Gabriel, before 1400 years. Later it was written, Since then, there is no change in it's Arabic Origin. You can't find any contradictions or a single vulgar word in Holy Quran (Click No.1)

The Only One God Allah Says in Holy Quran about Bible (Check as: Gospel) in many Verses. Click the last link given.

Chapter 3 Verse 3. It is He Who sent down to thee (step by step), in truth, the Book, confirming what went before it; and He sent down the Law (of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus) before this, as a guide to mankind, and He sent down the criterion (of judgment between right and wrong).

    - Check thus thru YouTube. CNN: 1.5 Million Converts to Islam Since 9/11.....

The Only One God Allah (Who Created you, me and whole universe) Says in Holy Quran Chapter 3 Verse 64 :

Say, "O People of the Scripture (Holy Books), come to a word that is equitable between us and you - that we will not worship except Allah and not associate anything with Him and not take one another as lords instead of Allah ." But if they turn away, then say, "Bear witness that we are Muslims [submitting to Him].

(You will be the witness on the "Judgement Day", as I informed you about Islam, the True Path).

God Allah gave you the thinking power. Think again and again. Ask yourself, Why? How? Is there any Scientific Proofs? The Holy Quran has the reply. I can't push you to embrace Islam. You have to realize yourself. Nothing to loose, something to gain for the life hereafter. May Almighty Allah Show you the Right Path.

Allah Says in Holy Quran : Chapter 2 Verse 256. There is no compulsion in religion (Islam)....

Islam is easy, Holy Quran Chapter 2 Verse 185. ..."Allah intends for you ease, and He does not want to make things difficult for you"....

    I should hope not.

Ezekiel 9:6 "Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women"

Isaiah 13:16 "Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished."

If that was taken literally, then our world would be even more of a mess.

Christians like to ignore those verses...the ones that show what a cruel being the Christian god would be if he was real.

No, far from it. There is no verifiable evidence that god or gods exists, much less that they wrote books.
