Yes, it is an absolute fact of life that moral degradation directly relates to spirituality. In the present scientific age people are more inclined towards materialistic than spiritual values. The declining moral standards directly relates to decline in inclination towards spirituality. People are becoming more inclined towards religion... path of rituals that carried no meaning in spiritual world.
Bhagavad Gita of Hinduism clearly states that God Almighty could not be reached via path of religion (path of rituals) yet, people travelled path of religion as it was easier to travel. Path of religion does not demand subduing our ego (Aham in Hinduism) on the altar of God Almighty. It rather acts as a catalyst in fuelling our ego farther and farther.
Who was truly interested in reaching God in present life? People are more inclined towards accumulating more and more material riches than required by most. This inclination towards vice makes people becoming less and less spiritual! We have already entered ghor kali yuga phase of life... the darkest hour of the night, the Dark Age... metal age!
Such a tendency can only be overcome by a massive upheaval world over. More here- http://www.godrealized.org/Spirituality.html

Probably not. Kant said in the 1700s "nothing is divine but agreeable to reason" and Nietzsche declared the death of God about a century and a half ago. Western thought has long since rejected spirituality as a rationally acceptable metaphysical grounding for morality. Declining morality is just a sign of declining morality, which is more likely linked to a lack of empathy than a lack of spirituality. Lack of empathy is a pandemic today. People could stand to learn to stand in other peoples' shoes, which means reading more books (the Bible and Qur'an included, but not to the exclusion of the Critique of Pure Reason and Beyond Good and Evil)

Interesting question considering the number of religious or spiritual people is at an all time high. Should the question not be is increasing spirituality a sign of declining morality.

Yes it would be, if it was declining. But is mortality declining over time?
Declining relative to say Europe in 1313?
Your question assumes a time frame, but the one thing our still primitive knowledge of geology and astronomy has revealed is that our miniscule lifespans leave us fairly clueless about understanding truly long term time frames. When discussing the human species' capacity for spirituality, or rather sentient-life-on-earth's momentum toward greater spirituality, my impression is that progress is actually positive over time although, granted, spotty and often a matter of 2 steps forward 1 step back. For example, over the next 1 million years the Big Island of Hawaii will be completely covered by lava 8 times. Surely the entire history of the empire and culture of America, for another example, will be too brief to even factor into this question you pose. If we look at the emergence of cooperation among single-celled organisms and follow the thread of evolving cooperation among sentient life then I would say that the progress of spirituality appears to be inexorable - although the human species and many subsequent species may well be total failures until finally a replacement species "gets it right" - that is, acts as a cooperative unit based on love rather than fear.
This is why someone like Joanna Macy can say with equanimity:
It Looks Bleak.
Big Deal, It Looks Bleak.

Declining morality isn't something that could be attributed to easily usa. Morality replaced into on the decline ever considering the fact that guy walked this earth. everyone have 2 options. to choose for the properly suited way, or not. To maximum, the common way isn't the properly suited way and vice versa. that's an prolonged working argument between particular persons. One answerer right here says that's father and mom shirking their duty as father and mom. In that I ought to agree. Morals ought to learn in the residing house. father and mom ought to coach via solid occasion. instructors additionally should play their area. however the enticements of this earth will continuously be on the faculty gates for whilst college is out. with any luck, the preparation/occasion of father and mom/instructors will help the little childrens to make the properly suited options.

It is a sign of a declining fear of punishment. For many, that is an indication of declining spiritualism and faith lack of faith or fear of a greater power.

spirituality is the act of practicing religion, while morality is considered to be the result of the practice. this is not the case as the definition of morality is determined by the relgion.
there are many, many religions, and many, many people practicing them; this results in a great confusion about the vlues of our life.
i think that a religion should empower the people's lives by practicing it, and that should be the strength to create "actual" good. as such a religion should not be separate from this reality.
for example: a true religion would bring peace to the country.
