    Since spoons, in and of themselves, are specialty instruments for eating, I would use:

    The spoon's shape is especially peculiar. This implies its shape is abnormal. "Particularly" would mean it is peculiar in and of itself )incorrectly referring to 'shape'

    Otherwise, A is correct.

    The spoon's shape is especially peculiar.

    First is correct . Second would be if you used a comma between shape and in and between particular and is .
