Why oh Why does a rich in billions with Gold Hindu Temple in India not feed the poor?
So I am watching the news and a Hindu Temple in India rediscovers a heap of gold under the temple with a few BILLION dollars. Now there are starving Hindus and poor in India.
So my question is this Why would the temple not take just 2% or more and Feed and Help the Poor
Hindu communities and or the Poor? Would this not be a beautiful Idea? where is the Love
and Humanity? If I had such riches I would help,It makes me sad to see such riches not being used
to better the life of people who could use some help.
Peace and Love.
I think you are wrong with what you have to say maggie . The Queen or Britain have nothing to do with
my question.
read he Question. banks, rich americans have nothing to do with my answer.
offerings are just offerings if they can more than help then they should be used. If I could sell the shroud
of turin and other objects in the catholic church i could wipe out poverty. And if I could I would.

never heard of seperation of state and religion?
..india is not run by a hindu temple..and it's not a temple's duty to address economic problems of India...if temples start to take care of the people, why the need for govt? temples can run charities and i am sure armies&police too..
having said that hindu temples and their wealth should be autonomous and many hindu temples already do lot of charities..but that is not the case with other religions..they use their money for forceful conversions..
if you need proof, there is already a wealthiest temple in the world , Tirumla, TTD...all of its money is controlled by govt., which should be illegal..

It is an interesting fact to note that the Hindu temples were looted & destroyed by all the conquers irrespective of the religion. Even the neighboring Hindu Kings also used to do the same because the kings and the elites used to store their wealth in the temples. The kings and the elites of all the big and small Indian states accumulated wealth by exploiting the poor and the low cast people. The few elites lead a very good life and the poor majority suffered and starved. The elite used to store the wealth in the temples so that the god fearing poor majority do dare to steal it from there; even if it meant that they starved to death. The elites of the neighboring kingdoms knew that the temples were used more as a bank (or a safe locker for storing wealth) than as a religious place. So, naturally they destroyed the temples in search of wealth. In many cases, the gold, silver and precious stones were hidden inside the wall or below the floor. A typical example of modern times discovery is the Sri Padmanabhan temple of Trivandrum, Kerala. So, there is no wonder that the temples were destroyed; you and I would do the same if we came to know about the possibility of a huge pile of treasure hidden in some place.

Hindu temples in India feed hundreds of people everyday. They also give out holy offerings called prasaad to every devotee who comes in that would be enough to fill anyone's stomach for a couple of hours atleast.
At lunch and dinner full meals are provided with basics such as bread, rice and dal. Maybe some yoghurt too.
Besides, this gold they found is a part of the temple's treasures. Imagine how silly it would sound if someone asked you to sell the shroud of turin and use that money to feed the poor. Thats exactly how it sounds to us since all that gold is ornaments and offerings made to god.

Hindu Temples of India not only feed and help poor people but also have a great role in running the country. The temples plan and then spend accordingly. For example, the banks have huge money but they plan to spend it. Though, temple is religious institutions, therefore the Hindu temple does not run commercial activity.

I agree with you that they should use the money to benefit the less fortunate, but what about those who inherit large sums from their deceased relatives? There are also very wealthy bankers in America who could donate more of their money. All around the world, people suffer, and are ignored by those who have the power to alleviate said suffering.
It is unfortunate, but each person has their own motives, and it is difficult for another to judge said motives.
EDIT: I read your question. Nobody can tell you why the rich guy in charge of all that gold isn't donating it to charity, with the exception of the man himself. Maybe a public internet forum isn't the best place to ask. And yes, rich Americans do have something to do with your answer. I was trying to provide a parallel, and a rich American is not different from a rich Indian, except in that one is Indian and one is American. smh
