What is "The Intel(R) Matrix Storage Manager"? How did it get on my computer?
I ran Malwarebytes overnight and when I went on the computer this morning, this "Asking Bubble" wanted to know if I wanted to run this: c:\Intel\Intel Matrix Storage Manage\Shell.exe
I did not download this. What scared me is that it is an .exe file extension which means it will start working the second I agree to allow it to execute.
Is this a virus or Trojan or worm or is it safe?
What other websites can I check?
I am going to sophos.com to check right now.
Thank you

Intel is a huge manufacturer of CPUs, probably the biggest in the world. The Intel storage manager is *supposed* to increase read/write speeds on your hard drive by working with your RAM.
If you have an SSD (solid state drive), feel free to get rid of it, since that is probably not your PC's shortcoming.
However, if you have an HDD (hard disk drive) you may want to keep it, since that is probably the most hinder factor on your PC.
Some games (Minecraft) require high read/write speeds but lower CPU speeds, so you can sacrifice a bit of CPU power to help with the hard drive. Others, (Need for Speed) will need every available piece of CPU power, and you'll just have to deal with loading times in exchange for amped graphics.
