Pretty simple really....look at the shifter for the main transmission....if you see a lever to the left of it...then you have 4wd....

You may want to call the Jeep Customer Call Center with the last eight of your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and they will be able to advise you if your vehicle is a 2WD, 4WD or an AWD.

If you have the Monroney Label (window sticker) it would be listed on there also.

How do you buy a new Jeep vehicle and not know if it's 2WD, 4WD or AWD? Look at the window sticker or decode the VIN.

How did you get a new grand Cherokee without verifying what drivetrain you have? If you do have 4WD there would be a 4X4 sticker on the liftgate as behind the gear shift lever there would be the terrain selector as buttons for low range are also there.

Jeep Grand cherokee Laredo, limited, overland and overland summit has 4x2 and 4x4 model, only SRT8 use only 4x4.
to see if it is 4WD or not can be seen next to the gear lever, there is a button for the selection of terrain.
On the dashboard panel can also be known when the 4WD on or off.
To know more see your manual book or visit jeep website, if you need more info about jeep history and how to repair your jeep visit below.

If its a grand cherokee chances are that it is 4wd because it is a jeep, on the tailgate their should be a 4x4 symbol that will show you if the car is, even though its a pretty safe bet it is

The absolutely free reverse vin check sites generally provide fake information. To get real information, money will have to be paid. The free searches provide fake information so they can get your email address to send spam.
Stay away from shady reverse vin check sites, most likely you won't get any information after you make the payment. Not to mention you won't get a report and you won't get an answer if you try to call for a refund. Stick with a reputable reverse vin check site like http://www.reversevincheck.net/ that has been around since 1995.
