After practicing and gaining some facility, perhaps, after awhile, one can demonstrate what it is, on sites like this is a good start.

Truth be told, I didn't 'learn' 'critical thought', it is what I was born with and practiced naturally. One day I found that philosophy is 'critical thought' and understand that is what I have been doing.

If it can be learned, this seems as good a venue as any. You reach all over the world, and can communicate privately, if necessary.

Teach by doing! Answer questions demonstrating your trains of thought... 'Show us' all how!

Some people cannot learn.

I find it pointless to teach critical thinking.

You can teach method, technique. You can teach specific things. Facts, concepts, solution methods, etc.

You cannot teach critical thinking to those who do not possess it already.

They cannot digest critical thinking without having critical thinking, and so it falls on deaf ears to teach it. Those that have it can learn to put into words what they already possess. But those that do not have it cannot even begin to fathom how to understand the lessons.

Give them a voice. Provide a social environment where people don't feel they have to pretend to be dumb to fit in. Show respect for their human minds. Many people, especially young people, assume that their own minds are not worthy of critical thinking because no one has ever shown them respect.

Honestly, ive been trying to figure this out for so long....its an ongoing struggle; that's why i want to become a college prof...then i can teach people critical thinking & get paid for it. lol

Have an attractive assistant for both sexes and use them as a reward for your audience for paying attention. It's all about basic, universal, psychological conditioning. For that matter, operant conditioning. Classical conditioning is the same exact thing as coercion and will generate more resentment than viable results.

A good start would be to teach them how to tell the difference between what they want to be true and what is evident to be true.

'Out of the box' riddles.

Instead of multiple choice on tests, make them use short answer.

Teach them philosophy. Use the Socratic method.

Hmm. That seems to be about all I can muster up in one swing of my mind.

IDK....that's difficult. I imagine it helps to know that you can be wrong. And to be knowledgeable of things like logical fallacies help. That way, you would at least know when you came to a faulty conclusion.....or what one looks like. It's hard. No one can change the way they think unless they want to; like being hypnotized.

Deny them the right to vote and increase their taxes because they are a liabiliies
