How long does a sinus infection typically last?

I started an antibiotic two weeks ago tomorrow. It was a z-pak, so only five days and I began to feel better. Problem is, I can't stop coughing. Morning, noon, and night--it's all I do. The doctor gave me Hydrocodone to help with the cough, but I still wake up early with a bad cough. I replaced the hydrocodone with Nyquil and Delsym a few times, but I still woke up early. I do my Neti Pot every few days and gargle with Salt water. I stay hydrated and relatively active, too. The last few nights I've woke up sweating--even though my pjs and room was cool (still warm in Fl) which leads me to believe something else is wrong. I slept with my head propped up, but woke up feeling like I was drowning and my nose was still stuffed up. I tried Claritin too--thinking it would dry everything up and it didn't really help. I'm miserable here. :( Please help? Thank you!

My dad gets tons of sinus infections and I used to get Store alot our personal experience with z paks for those are not very good. ... they didn't work for us but also with the coughing you can get bronchitis from a sinus infection due to all the s'not and stuff but bronchitis usually tends to have a green or yellow mucous producing cough. So if your cough is productive go to the doc. If its dry its probably just your throat being irritated and there really isn't a whole lot to do nyquil sucks for coughs it basically just knocks you out to make you comfortable mucinex in my opinion is the best

I had a sinus infection in the past, I put off going to the doc til it was almost deadly. New Years Eve 2000!!!!!!! It really depends on how bad it is as to how long it'll last. If it doesn't clear up before you're out of meds you'll have to go back to the doc. For me they just prescribed plain old penicillin, you might need 'pena' or even augmentin, they're both good
