I just used Avast! virus scanner and it shows about 336 files that could NOT BE SCANNED. What does this mean?

This has NEVER happened before. Oh, maybe 2 or 3 or so at a time, but never, never this many.

Should I"Delete" or "Move To Chest"?

Here are some file names: all begin with C:\Users\........\

Here are some endings

DAM, I just closed the window before doing anything like "move to Chest" or "Delete".

should I run Avast ! again and delete or move the files to a chest?

Update:

I ran Malwarebytes the morning before running Avast !

If you have any other security scanners on the computer or registry cleaners....those will show up as not scanned.....each one of those are exempt from being scanned cause they all have a protection module built in.....I wouldn't worry about it....I been using avast for the last 4 years and it does not scan programs iolo and augistics disc cleaner and gives me that warning about not being able to scan.....nothing to fret about.....your fine........

All the files that are showing above are non-executable meaning they cannot be viruses....the only one that looks suspicious is >> gccheck.exe

I would do a Start > Search and search the computer for that and see what program its running and if its a attached to a verified program.....it's ok.

Nevermind....I just checked it for you and its fine.....http://www.pcpitstop.com/libraries/process/i/gcche...

Source(s): Avast actions....do nothing...do not delete nor send to virus chest......... Avast user...............

They might be broken files. Go to cnet and download your systems free CCleaner.

Uncheck passwords and analyze it. You will see all the garbage your computer picks up.

Use it on your registry also, but back up anything it says to. It has a "Fix issues" there.

If it is still wonkey, you can use the "Wipe free space". This is all the stuff you have downloaded and deleted. They are still in your driver though.

If you wipe it, defragment it and clean free disk space after.

I dont think it is a virus.

This has kept my computer running 8 years. I use the cleaner every week to clean up the garbage. Good luck.

Run it again and compare lists. They may have been in use, and therefore inaccessible.
