Our power and water went out, why and how to fix it?

The entire house has electric power, buts it's going really funny. When we turn the bathroom lights on, they and the kitchen lights go dim. The lights also dim when we plug in the coffee maker and such. The water's gone too, for no apparent reason. We unplugged the upstairs fridge because we thought it pulled too much. Any help? And if you need more info then I'll try my best.

Certainly sounds like power supply problem, if you have near neighbours check if they are also having a problem. If they are NOT it will be a problem at your main fuse board or a fault in the supply line outside. Either way, call the power supply company first and get them out quick to find out if the problem is on their side or yours. If the fault is outside, a repair may only be done by someone employed directly by the electric company. If you employ someone this would be off limits to them.

It is a most unlucky trend that the quickest U.S. Population development is occurring in areas where there may be the least amount of rainfall. Serious legal battles over water rights between agricultural users and cities are already happening and can most effective get worse. It is also unlucky that areas of the world which have had dry spells over the last half of-century have become drier. To answer the query, we are not able to make it rain more, so the only solutions are: 1. Unfold the populace to areas with a sustainable water give 2. Construct seawater desalination crops and large pipeline networks each of that are politically unpopular, so right here you will have the roots of the crisis: persons love sunny climate and scoff on the recommendation of relocating. Desalination is elaborate and highly luxurious, and customers are usually not willing to pay the exorbitant premiums required to construct the remedy plants and broaden the pipelines. Finally, nuclear vigor is secure, however it has been so demonized by way of its opponents (and fossil-gas industry lobbyists) that it has easily ended the option for the foreseeable future.

You are experiencing power supply problems. And the water should not be related to power unless you have a well.

As for why your lights are behaving irrationally - this is NOT a DIY situation unless you have years of experience messing with dangerous voltages in the breaker panel. It's likely you have a bad breaker BUT that's not necessarily the true cause. That COULD be the case or it could be caused by other factors. Factors such as a bad connection in the breaker panel, or in the meter box or the connection to the transformer. Really, you need someone who is highly skilled at this.

But the problem can even be elsewhere. It could be a bad ground or bad neutral return line somewhere. Lights that are intended to work on 110 volts may behave weird if they're getting 220 volts AND have more than one circuit acting in parallel. It's not easy to explain, and I'll draw and post a picture for you to consider, but getting it fixed right is critical. Otherwise all your electronic devices may be at risk. Or maybe just anything on those affected circuits. But this is NO TIME to TRY to GUESS your way through this one. REALLY!

DON'T touch any electricity yourself.........that's what the Power Company is for...contact them and ask to have someone come out and check the problem..Unplugging the fridge is going to ruin what is IN it!

    Source(s): That's what I would do
