1. There should be No government regulation of the media whatsoever including licensing which includes journalists and reporters. To do so is but a step toward a government controlled media.
2. Reporters haven't infringed upon the 2nd amendment. Gun licensing/permits actually are public record - therefore certainly publishable and legal. There in lies the quandary: Just because it's legal doesn't make it ethical. Or moral. Or sensible.

Why would journalists need background checks? Is it against the law to report the news?
I can't remember the last time freedom of speech was involved in a school shooting or caused it for that matter. No one is talking about getting rid of the second amendment but instead putting gun regulations which won't stop criminals anyways. And I worked with people who are vets also but they don't go around advertising it to the whole world like you do. I wouldn't even know they served if I didn't have a 30 minute conversation with them.
Thanks for your service. What do you want a medal?

I think those lists should be available - but I think government is already in WAY too deep on other regulations.
While I don't personally own a gun, I'm far more comfortable with people being armed than allowing one maniac on a rampage to go until he's out of bullets. That being said I'm a dual citizen and am embarrassed by those in other countries sticking their nose into our US business about gun control - you don't fight against the constitution of a country that you're not a citizen of.
However, limiting freedom of expression could have horrible consequences.

Apparently so. But the liberals will ignore it until it infringes on THEM.
