What is the colloquial saying that means...?

I remember hearing a saying that has a meaning to the effect of "continuing to fight about an issue that both sides really agree on".

Meaning two people are continuing to argue with each other but they are both simply rephrasing a view that actually means the same thing from both sides. So they really agree on an issue, but because of their political stances or their background or whatever they're continuing to disagree about something they really agree about.

This is why I can't just google this unfortunately... >___>

Does anyone remember how that saying goes?

One saying I've heard is 'fighting for the sake of fighting'.Don't know if that's what you mean.
