NJ Devils.

Stanley Cups since 1990:

Devils: 3, Rangers: 1.

Conference championships since 1990:

Devils: 5, Rangers: 1.

Division championships since 1990 (both teams are in the same division...)

Devils: 9, Rangers: 4.

Missed playoffs since 1990:

Devils: 1, Rangers: 9.

Examples:

2012- Devils beat Rangers 4-2 (Conference championship.)

2006- Devils beat Rangers 4-0 (Conference Quarter-Finals.)

In the last 20 years,

The New Jersey Devils were Stanley Cup Winners 3x (and were Stanley Cup finalists 5x) whereas the Rangers have had only the one Stanley Cup.

In addition, the New Jersey Devils were Eastern Conference Champions 4x whereas the Rangers once again held that honor only once during the last 20 years, and are typically a low seed entry.

I believe Detroit has had the best record for the last 20 years, but New Jersey has had far more success over the last 20 years in comparison to the New York Rangers.

NJ is way better than NY over the past 20 years. NY had better players, but NJ has more titles and a better record, more playoff appearences, final appearences, etc

I think you can make the argument between NJ and DET over the last 20 years
