I clicked on questions one by one and the entire first page of questions on Society and Culture, was deleted for being offensive. Is this entire section overrun with people trolling others, on a daily basis ?

Are you as surprised as I am, that we have not been bombarded with daily updates by the media (with no new information) regarding the recovery of Sidney Crosby and whether or not he will be ready for the playoffs ?

or do they do an actual count, by other means (ie. when they scan your ticket to enter the Arena)

Pre-emptive to smartass responses... I'm referring to doing so in the same year...

Avril Lavigne is marrying Chad Kroeger (Nickleback). Pre-emptively we should anticipate musical collaboration between these two, and the worst thing to happen to music... EVER!

They just traded away Derek Roy, typically a 70+ point Center, for Steve Ott, a typically 30+ point LW.

That leaves the Sabres with the unproven Cory Hodgson (who went from 33 pts and +8 in 63 games for Vancouver, to 8 pts and -7 in 20 games for Buffalo), Ville Leino (who went from 53 points and a +2 in 81 games with Philadelphia, to 25 points and a -2 in 71 games for Buffalo) and Luke Adam, who has 24 points in his 71 game career so far with Buffalo. Not one of them has a 50%+ faceoff rating (guess who did, Derek Roy).

They don't even need a LW. I respect Ott as a player, but Vanek has the lead role on LW, and between Ennis leading the team in +/- and putting up better points than Ott, and Foligno having a breakout performance last season with 13 points in his 14 games, the LW role seems reasonably well established.

I just do not see what the Sabres hoped to gain from this, unless there is a trade offer in the works for an all-star center. The Sabres seem to be out to miss the playoffs again, before the season even begins.

Why do 9 out of 10 people say "[Insert team] in 6"... ?

In round one; 3 series ended in 5, 2 series in 6, 3 series ended in 7...

In round two; 1 series ended in 4, 2 series end in 5 and 1 series ended in 7...

So statistically so far, only 2 out of 12 matchups ended in 6 games... except for a sweep it is the least likely outcome so far... but no matter who you ask, everyone says "So and so in 6"...

I have a Robin that seems to find new ways every few days to irritate me or damage my property...

It spent about two weeks flying into my front window (about every 10 seconds, thousands of times a day); Wakes me up at like 5:30 in the morning from the noise as he always starts bright and early being a Robin.

Has painted my front deck, and my car, with a thick coating of bird poop (I swear it aims for the drivers side front door);

Now has proceeded to climbing into the exhaust for the Dryer (as in Washer/Dryer) and flapping about for hours on end...

I have no idea whats next... and it is all the exact same bird.

So... ideas ?

Detroit eliminated first and by Nashville... Boston, Vancouver, San Jose, Chicago, Pittsburgh on the brink of elimination.

L.A., St. Louis, Phoenix, Washington looking to advance... not to mention if New Jersey or the Rangers don't turn it around, they too could be looking to be on the brink of elimination by Florida and Ottawa.

All the past Titans of recent years are gone or facing elimination, and all the teams that were typically made fun of are looking to advance.

ie. Who would you re-sign that will be UFA, what free agents would you sign, would you buy out any contracts, what sort of trades do you think they need to be looking at (the realistic kind) ?

Dustin Brown has 2 Short-handed goals so far tonight, if he gets one more would that be the first short-handed hat trick in the NHL?

Would we ever hear the end of it from Flyers fans ?

I have a large front window that a robin keeps flying into (about every 10-60 seconds throughout the day).

I have put up silhouettes of hawks to attempt to deter it, but that is not working.

Any ideas on how to get rid of this pest ?

What causes a team to suddenly fold up after an otherwise successful season ?

Dallas is 1-8-1 in the last 10, Colorado has gone 1-8-1... Atlanta has gone 2-7-1.

Three teams that had better than a .500 win/loss ratio for most of the regular season, completely folded up for no apparent reason, and have nearly ruined any chance at a playoff appearance; Dallas could turn it around... Atlanta doing so would be rather a stretch. New Jersey going to the playoffs would seem more likely at this point than Atlanta...

What happened ?

I was listening to this song on the radio, and could not believe how terrible and nonsensical the lyrics were.

Especially the methods he proposes to show how much he cares about a woman he loves;

"I'd catch a grenade for you"

"Throw my hand on a blade for you"

"I'd jump in front of a train for you"

"Take a bullet straight through my brain"...

WHY ? To what end ?

I could understand lyrics like 'jumping ON a grenade for her' or 'taking a bullet FOR her' but his examples are essentially just ways to commit suicide, with no benefit to her whatsever...

However... the rest of the song is about how vile and horrible and unfeeling she is, but how he still loves her anyways; If she were as bad as "If my body was on fire, ooh you'd watch me burn down in flames" or "You'll smile in my face, then rip the brakes out of my car" then why hasn't she taken him up on one of his many offers to commit suicide for her... ? She is afterall apparently trying to kill him...

Then, of all things... the song ends with him merely repeating over and over she would never do the same. What SANE person would ?

Is there any player that has signed a long contract (8 years minimum) where they continued to play at the level they were expected to (or better) for that duration... or is a long contract a death sentence to the players motivation and career, and something we can expect to see more and more of as players continue to sign longer and longer contracts ?

Ovechkin, Luongo, Kovalchuk... last season these were thought to be some of the best players in the NHL today...

Ovechkin was putting up 50+ goals per season, at his current pace he is going to be lucky to break 30 for the season, and doesn't really seem to care whether that changes or not...

Luongo is 13-8-2 and ranked 27th for SV% (.911) for his $10 million. This is arguably not that bad however considering that the back-up, Schneider has a better record of 3-0-2 so far this season and is posting a better SV% at .917, Luongo hardly seems to be earning his pay.

Kovalchuk is just an embarrassment at 14 points in 28 games and a (-)18 plus/minus. When your plus/minus is lower than your total points, that means you've become such a liability that you are of more benefit to the opposing team to be on the ice, than for your own. With only 5 goals so far this season, he might be averaging $1 million per goal by the end of the season under his contract.

I fail to understand what there is to investigate. Do the IOC not even know whether this is or is not against their rules ? Do they need to know whether they are going to receive bribes or not before making a hasty decision ?

Either drinking and smoking cigars in pubic as part of celebrating is permitted or it is not; What is there to investigate ?

They're currently being out-shot 2-1 by Toronto, and losing 3-1...

They're 3-5-1 so far (and looking to make that 3-6-1)...

One of the lowest scoring teams in the NHL right now with some of the best offensive talent...

What changed ? (other than Hiller for Giguere)
