What if Crosby scored a goal as offside as the one by Briere tonight ?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjKdpanE4aI
Would we ever hear the end of it from Flyers fans ?
The icing was waved off, Coburn just didn't know and stopped playing. While not exactly a goal to be proud of, the fault there was to the Flyers. The Penguins seemed to have no problem figuring out that play was still active.
Briere's goal was just ridiculous (Its not that it was offside, it was that the referee had to be Mr Magoo to have missed just how badly offside that play was, he was like 5-6 feet into the defensive zone when the puck crossed the blueline).
Bob, not sure what channel you were watching but the commentators specifically stated that Pittsburgh was going to be outraged when they saw the replay and stated that Briere was WAY offside, and that the linesman messed up.
In regards to Pittsburgh protesting... to what effect ? Since the linesman did not call it offside, the goal cannot be disallowed, no matter how bad a call it was. Briere could have been standing next to Fleury and it wouldn't make a difference...

Are you kidding? If that had been a Pittsburgh goal the crying from Filthadelphia fans would go on for lifetimes.
What makes me laugh about the whole situation is that Pittsburgh got screwed by the refs on that goal and it probably cost them the game but the Filthadelphia fans are still whining about how the NHL favors Pittsburgh and supposedly makes all the calls in the Penguins favor. I think they are too busy whining to realize that the Flyers actually won the game.

You are full of crap. It was SOOOO obvious and 5 or 6 feet eh? That's why Pittsburgh protested immidiately right? That's why it's the first thing out of the commentators mouths, even during replay they mention it right?
Honestly, I watched it a half dozen times and it is still inconclusive to me....I know they mentioned it later in the broadcast so I assume they must have determined it was offside by use of a still frame but to say it was ridiculous is ridiculous.
Actually just watched a different angle and it was a couple of feet offside....shows what a different angle can show.
Also of note....the way the play developed (the turnover and Briere being caught up ice) led to the linesman being out of position. They are human. As a Philly fan, if Pittsburgh scored that goal, I would say the same, thems the breaks and the way the play developed made it difficult for the linesman and they are human.

Protesting not to get the goal overturned (of course it cannot be).........but more bytching I should say. Nobody went over and gave the refs crap...I am just going on videos as I missed the actual event of the goal as I was at a QMJHL playoff game last night....so going by your vid....

You realize the penguins scored a goal that should have been whistled down for icing right? Your team is diving left and right and getting every single call and you still have to come on here and complain about one thing?

He'd still be the most hated player in the game, granted by a larger margin. No other team has a player the caliber of Crosby.

HA! Pens scored a chinsy goal themselves tonight. The real question is, will we ever hear the end of Crosby whining?
