2007 cadillac escalade wont shift out of first gear?

i have a 2007 cadillac escalade and it wont shift out of first gear. i have had the truck for 3 years and havnt had an issue, but we just had a big snow storm and as i was leaving a gas station i ran over a good amount of snow and as soon i punched it and would not shift out of first gear at all, not even if i tried to do it manually. has anyone had this issue? before i drop a few thousand on a transmission. btw the warranty is expired because it has 102,000 miles but i bought it with 50,000 miles. ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS??

If you tackled a snow bank, crawl under the truck and see if there is snow wedged in and around the shifting mechanism. You sound like you are talking an automatic transmission, but there may still be exposed linkages between the shift lever and the gear box. If you can't see anything, get it towed home and put it in a heated garage for 24 hours. This will melt any snow that may be hiding from you but screwing up the works. After the 24 hours are up, check again and see if there are any wires or other connectors which have come loose. If you can't find anything and it still will not shift, check for recalls to see if there is known transmissiion problems that Cadillac hasn't told you about. The following links are for USA and Canadian recalls. If it is a snow related problem, it may be picked up in Canada sooner than the USA.

If something bypass with the Cadillac, i assume... You do understand that the two a variety of "automobiles" are built off of an identical platform?(chevy silverado, tahoe, suburban, hummer1, hummer2, caddy escalade... you get the image, and use an identical engines and transmissions... so all your procuring is a "different seem" and indoors layout, perhaps another stuff in spite of the undeniable fact that that is all off of an identical platform. superb needs...
